This data set includes count, location, and ancillary habitat data for fishes sampled in adjacent reaches of Georgiana Slough, Sacramento River, and Steamboat Slough in the northern Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. It also includes data on the stomach contents of selected individual black basses (Micropterus). Fishes were sampled by boat electrofishing from approximately January-May, 2020-2022, plus gillnetting in 2020. Samples were collected under a stratified random sampling design. Gillnetting involved short duration (~60 minute) sets of monofilament experimental gill nets. Boat electrofishing involved either single or repeated passes along an individual 300 m shoreline transect. Stomach contents data are from fishes...

The dataset includes four seperate files of data for a project that examined the strontium isotopic composition of otoliths of Clear Lake Hitch. Otoliths examined in this study were from randomly-sampled individual Clear Lake Hitch that recruited into the adult population in Clear Lake. The fish were collected in June and July 2017. Strontium isotopic composition (87Sr/86Sr ) in otoliths was determined with a multicollector LA-ICP mass spectrometer (LA-ICMPS; Nu Plasma HR, Nu Instrument, Inc.) interfaced with a Nd : YAG 213-nm laser (New Wave Research UP213) at the University of California, Davis. Fish capture and size data are in the file Clear Lake Hitch Otolith Data_FISH. Otolith increment data are in the file...

This data set contains information on zooplankton and associated environmental parameters for sampling conducted in the San Joaquin River and False River near their confluence at Jersey Point (Contra Costa County, California), during February-March, 2016. Macrozooplankton were sampled with vertical tows (bottom to surface) of a 50 cm-diameter conical plankton net that was 150cm long with 102µm mesh. Samples were preserved in the field in 10% formalin for laboratory processing that was conducted by a contractor (EcoAnalysts, Inc). This data set includes environmental and biological information on fishes collected using gill nets and otter trawls during day and night, as well as diet data for Striped bass and Sacramento pikeminnow obtained via gastric lavage. Sampling took place in and around Ryer Island, Suisun Bay, California during Winter and Spring of 2018.
This data release includes water quality data collected from ponds on Boudin Island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Data were collected in the Bouldin East and Bouldin West ponds concurrently with a Delta Smelt Enclosure Study which involved three cages in each pond with approximately 60 Delta Smelt (Hypomesus transpacificus) in each cage. There were two fish deployments, the first deployment was from 11/21/2022 to 01/04/2023 (~6 weeks) and the second was from 02/02/2023 to 05/03/2023 (~13 weeks). Temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, specific conductance, salinity, chlorophyll, and pH were measured weekly. Water temperature was recorded continuously (15-minute sampling interval). Both the discrete (weekly)...

This data includes information on water quality, zooplankton, and fish sampled in ponds on delta islands in San Joaquin County, California. The islands include Bacon (North and South ponds), Bouldin (East and West ponds), Holland Tract (Middle, North, and South ponds), and Webb Tract (East, Middle, and North ponds). Discrete water quality parameters were measured bimonthly and continuous temperature was recorded every 15 minutes. Zooplankton were sampled monthly using a Schindler-Patalas 12L plankton trap with a 200mL Dolphin bucket with 61 micron stainless mesh. Fish were sampled once at each pond using beach seines, gill nets, and boat electrofishing gear.
