Mining and civil engineering industries sometimes use drilling muds for stabilizing a borehole during drilling wells for methane drainage, geothermal energy and radioactive waste disposal. Standard theories predicting borehole breakdown pressure assume breakdown occurs when a small fracture initiates at a location where the largest tangential stress at the borehole reaches the tensile strength of formation. Fracturing tests conducted in this study, how- ever, showed that when drilling fluid was used as an injection fluid, borehole breakdown did not occur even if a fracture initiated at a borehole wall. We propose a model for an exhausted upper continental crust. The Crepuscular Earth represents a degraded planet where all resources have been extracted and dispersed, and all fossil fuels have been burned. The starting point of the model of crepuscular crust is the composition given by the geochemist Grigor’ev, which is constrained by the conservation of mass statement between the chemical composition of the crust in terms of elements and in terms of minerals. Additionally, the model is given geological consistence, by introducing a series of assumptions based on geological observations. This data release contains the geospatial resources that were used by the USGS to compile the mineral resource inventory for the state of North Dakota, developed by the Mineral Resource Program (MRP) staff of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) at the request of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The mineral resources inventory was published as a USGS open-file report and can be accessed at https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr20211057. This dataset presents information about facilities relating to the mineral industries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Facilities include mines, mineral processing plants (including refineries and smelters), oil and gas field locations, and petroleum refineries. Relevant data fields include the mineral commodity, specific forms of the mineral commodity produced, location information, facility name, operator, ownership of the facility, annual production capacity, operational status, as well as geographic coordinates and locational accuracy.
