Soil samples were collected from Lady Bird Johnson Lake, Austin, Texas in 2019 to generate seed bank data for the rare plant Physostegia correllii. Seed germination data was produced from the soil samples kept in a greenhouse at the Wetland and Aquatic Research Center in Lafayette, LA.

This data layer represents the priority rare species and habitats that lie with PFLCC's Connectivity Priority Resource. The analysis was performed with the Florida Natural Areas Inventory's (FNAI) Florida Habitat model that was designed to identify areas important for species habitat based on both species rarity and richness -- FNAI mapped occurrence-based potential habitat for 281 species of plants, invertebrates, and vertebrates, including aquatic species. The metadata for PFLCC's Connectivity Priority Resource can be found in the map of the same name. The FNAIHAB model was designed to identify areas important for species habitat based on both species rarity and species richness. FNAI mapped occurrence-based...

Summary (from http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/fwb.12807/abstract) Conservation of freshwater unionid mussels presents unique challenges due to their distinctive life cycle, cryptic occurrence and imperilled status. Relevant ecological information is urgently needed to guide their management and conservation. We adopted a modelling approach, which is a novel application to freshwater mussels to enhance inference on rare species, by borrowing data among species in a hierarchical framework to conduct the most comprehensive occurrence analysis for freshwater mussels to date. We incorporated imperfect detection to more accurately examine effects of biotic and abiotic factors at multiple scales on the occurrence...

These data were compiled to investigate the evolutionary history of Astragalus iselyi, A. sabulosus var. sabulosus, and A. sabulosus var. vehiculus. The data release consists of six text files. One file is a bash script (astragalus_MLE_msms.sh) for generating simulated genetic data. Four files contain individual-level (astragalus.fasta, astragalus.nothin.recode.vcf, astragalus.recode.vcf) or population-level (astragalus_dadi.txt) information on genetic variation. One file contains sampling site-specific data for various soil and climatic variables (astragalus_env.txt). The .vcf files contain the full sequence information that is contained in the other files, but the file structures vary based on the programs used...

Question: What are the plant population- and community-level effects of removal of dominant plant species in the shortgrass steppe? Location: The Shortgrass Steppe Long-Term Ecological Research site in northern Colorado, USA. Methods: We annually measured plant cover and density by species for 10 years after a one-time aboveground removal of the dominant perennial grass, Bouteloua gracilis. Removal and control plots (3 m 3 m) were within grazed and ungrazed locations to assess the influence of grazing on recovery dynamics. Our analyses examined plant species, functional type, and community responses to removal, paying special attention to the dynamics of subdominant and rare species. Results: Basal cover of B....
