These model archive summaries document surrogate regression models developed to estimate suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) at three USGS streamgages in New York: Mohawk River above State Highway 30A at Fonda, USGS site number 01349527; Schoharie Creek at Burtonsville, USGS site number 01351500; and Mohawk River at Cohoes, USGS site number 01357500. Ordinary least squares regression equations were developed between suspended-sediment concentration and turbidity using the U.S. Geological Survey Surrogate Analysis and Index Developer (SAID) Tool (Domanski and others, 2015) and methods described in Rasmussen and others (2009). Model summaries were developed following guidance in USGS Office of Surface Water...

Static flood inundation boundary extents were created along the entire shoreline of Lake Ontario in Cayuga, Jefferson, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, Oswego, and Wayne Counties in New York by using recently acquired (2007, 2010, 2014, and 2017) light detection and ranging (lidar) data. The flood inundation maps, accessible through the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping Program website at https://www.usgs.gov/mission-areas/water-resources/science/flood-inundation-mapping-fim-program, depict estimates of the areal extent and water depth of shoreline flooding in 8 segments corresponding to adjacent water-surface elevations (stages) at the following 8 USGS lake gages on Lake Ontario: A – Lake Ontario (Thirtymile point) at Golden...

The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Tug Hill Commission, the Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District, the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Tug Hill Land Trust studied the northern and central parts of the Tug Hill glacial aquifer to help communities make sound decisions about the groundwater resource. This child item dataset contains selected well records compiled for the northern and central parts of the Tug Hill aquifer.

This dataset contains the well records compiled for this study. This digital dataset is the result of a study to investigate the hydrogeology of the Fairport-Lyons channel and inter-drumlin aquifer system and to map the extent of the glacial aquifers in southern Wayne County, New York; it supports USGS SIR 2021-5086, "Hydrogeology of aquifers within the Fairport-Lyons channel system and adjacent areas in Wayne, Ontario, and Seneca Counties, New York."

This child item model archive summary documents a surrogate regression model to estimate suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) at the Mohawk River at Cohoes, New York. (U.S. Geological Survey station number 01357500). The methods used follow USGS guidance in relevant Office of Surface Water/Office of Water Quality Technical Memoranda and USGS Techniques and Methods, book 3, chap. C4 (Rasmussen and others, 2009). The model is composed of two ordinary least squares linear regression equations covering low and high values of turbidity. The low turbidity equation is based on forty-one concurrent measurements of SSC and turbidity collected from October 1, 2016, through August 28, 2020; the high turbidity equation is...

From March 2019 to September 2020, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the New York City Department of Design and Construction and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, collected horizontal-to-vertical seismic (HVSR) surveys at 140 locations in New York, Bronx, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties to estimate the thickness of unconsolidated sediments and the depth to bedrock (Lane and others, 2008). The passive-seismic method uses a single, broad-band three-component (two horizontal and one vertical) seismometer to record ambient seismic noise. In areas that have a strong acoustic contrast between the bedrock and overlying sediments, the seismic noise induces resonance at frequencies...

This U.S. Geological Survey data release provides surface-water quality, streamflow, and groundwater-elevation data collected within the Central Pine Barrens (CPB) Region of Suffolk County, New York, from October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020. The data were collected in cooperation with the Central Pine Barrens Commission and the Town of Brookhaven as part of a five-year comprehensive water-resources monitoring program. Water quality and quality-assurance data from seven sites on two rivers (Carmans River- five sites and Peconic River- two sites) in the CPB are included. Carmans River sites were sampled four times throughout the year (fall, winter, spring, and summer) and Peconic River sites were sampled twice...

This dataset contains the eskerform features within the study area. The delineations indicate the axis of the eskerform feature, which indicates a stagnant glacial ice environment.

This dataset has been archived; it has been superseded by version 2.0 (June 2022) which can be found at https://doi.org/10.5066/P9ZCMH8S. The dataset is composed of two tables containing environmental DNA (eDNA) data and site location information from round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) surveys conducted on parts of the Champlain Canal and upper Hudson River in New York during spring 2022.

In 2016, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, collected horizontal-to-vertical seismic soundings at 31 locations in the Owasco Inlet valley, Cayuga and Tompkins Counties, New York to help determine thickness of the unconsolidated deposits. The HVSR technique, commonly referred to as the passive-seismic method, is used to estimate the thickness of unconsolidated sediments and the depth to bedrock (Lane and others, 2008; Fairchild and others, 2013). The passive-seismic method uses a single, broad-band three-component (two horizontal and one vertical) seismometer to record ambient seismic noise. In areas that have a strong acoustic contrast between...

This child item model archive summary documents a surrogate regression model to estimate suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) at the Schoharie Creek at Burtonsville, New York (U.S. Geological Survey station number 01351500). The methods used follow USGS guidance in relevant Office of Surface Water/Office of Water Quality Technical Memoranda and USGS Techniques and Methods, book 3, chap. 4 (Rasmussen and others, 2009). Sixty-one concurrent measurements of SSC and turbidity, collected from October 1, 2015, through May 2, 2020, were used in the model calibration dataset. Samples were collected across 75 percent of the range in observed discharge and 87 percent of the range in observed turbidity during the model calibration...
