Sources of data for Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem whitebark pine distribution map from Whitebark Pine Subcommittee of the Greater Yellowstone Coordintating Committee (GYCCWBSC). In 2008, the Whitebark Pine Subcommittee of the Greater Yellowstone Coordinating Committee (GYCCWBSC) initiated project to map the distribution of whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis) throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE). The first draft of this map was completed in January 2009. Updates and improvements were completed in April 2010. We compared current 5th level watersheds with Russian olive using LANDFIRE with the probability of areas having suitable habitat for Russian olive in 3 future periods based on climate modeling. Note that LANDFIRE data did not distinguish between Russian olive and tamarisk.
Powerlines in the western United States and Canada as identified by the 22 source data layers used to compile this shapefile. Source data were collected by personal contact or through the internet in the winter and spring of 2004 and assimilated using ArcGIS. This file is a complete record of overhead powerline data that was available as of 5/15/2004 but IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A COMPLETE REPRESENTATION OF THE SUM TOTAL OF ALL POWERLINES ON THE GROUND. These data primarily depict the higher voltage, long distance transmission lines but some arcs likely represent lower voltage distribution lines. Credits: Sean P. This data set includes the relative production scenarios for bufflaograss [0.72(Temp) - 0.12(Precip) - 0.04(Sand) + 3.08]; this is the model from Epstein, et al. (1998). Soil texture (percent by weight) came from the Earth Systems Science Center (2008) which provided processed soils data from NRCS (gSSURGO), mean annual temperature (Celsius) and/or mean annual precipitation (millimeters) came from contemporary (1981 - 2010) estimates (Maurer et al. 2002) or a GCM. Land ownership for the Wyoming Basin project area was clipped from the Sagemap ownership data, which was created by reformatting and merging state based ownership data layers originally acquired from diverse sources (including state GAP programs, USBLM state offices and other sources). For each original dataset 3 additional fields, Pub_Pvt, CA_OWN, and SOURCE were added and populated based on the specific ownership information contained in the source data. Aquatic Development Index (ADI) for riparian areas in the Wyoming Basin REA project area. ADI scores are based on a ranked index of combined disturbances assessed at three scales: local catchment (LADI), aggregated upstream catchments (UADI) and averaged local and upstream catchment (ADI). The ADI quantifies the relative disturbance within a catchment for four disturbance variable classes: transportation (roads and railroads, area and number of crossings), energy and minerals (number of oil and gas wells, number of wind turbines, mine area), water (number of dams, number of surface diversions and length of 303d streams) and land use (agriculture, e.g. pasture and cropland, and urban land covers). We delineated two aspen functional types, foothill and mountain slope aspen. Foothill aspen occurs at lower elevations, typically less than 2,621 m, within a matrix of sagebrush and other shrubs. Mountain slope aspen occurs across broad elevations from the toe slope to upper subalpine zones, where it intermixes with conifer species. LANDFIRE Existing Vegetation Types (EVT) includes two aspen EVT Rocky Mountain Aspen Forest and Woodland and Intermountain Basin Aspen and Mixed Conifer Forest and Woodland, which overlapped broadly in elevation and were not sufficient for use in distinguishing aspen functional types. To incorporate potential barriers to cutthroat trout movement, we summarized the number of diversion points within 30 m and stream-road crossings within 10 m of occupied segments, by sixth-level watershed. Diversions and road crossings were the same as used for the Aquatic Development Index. We developed a general habitat model for Brewer's sparrow using repeat visit survey data collected in Wyoming as part of the Integrated Monitoring in Bird Conservation Regions program, White and others, 2013, between 2009 and 2012. A suite of occupancy modles with different environmental covariates were evaluated using program MARK, White and Burnham, 1999, and the top model for each species was used to model the breeding distribution. The map of suitable habitat was based on parameter values that included 90 percent of the locations; omission rate of 10 percent.
