This shapefile is an vegetation map of Richmond National Battlefield Park, Virginia. It was developed by The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Division of Natural Heritage in cooperation with North Carolina State University's Center for Earth Observation for the Northeast Region of the National Park Service. The data was created following general guidelines set forth by the USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program. The National Park Service (NPS) Vegetation Inventory Program (VIP) is an effort to classify, describe, and map existing vegetation of national park units as part of generating baseline data products for the NPS Natural Resources Inventory and Monitoring Program. Plot data were collected during field visits to SAJH during the summer of 2010 and spring of 2011. Vegetation polygons were initially developed using aerial photography within ArcGIS. These polygons were modified based on field work conducted during the summer of 2010 and spring of 2011. This data set was created using field data that were collected to assess thematic accuracy of the preliminary vegetation map (cross-referenced below). Therefore, although estimated thematic accuracy of the preliminary vegetation map is known, thematic accuracy of this data set is untested.

This shapefile is a vegetation map of Weir Farm National Historic Site, Connecticut. A map showing the locations of the vegetation associations within the park was created following the USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program protocols (The Nature Conservancy and Environmental Systems research Institute 1994c). Each vegetation association was cross-walked to the National Vegetation Classification System (NVCS) or names modified from level II of Anderson's land use land cover classification system. Homestead National Monument (HOME) encompasses 184 acres in Gage County, west of Beatrice, Nebraska. This unique site hosts the oldest prairie restoration in the National Park system, and the second-oldest tallgrass prairie restoration known.
