These are terrestrial laser scanner datasets collected in forested areas west of Flagstaff, Arizona in 2015 and 2016. For each of the two scanners, six treatment areas were scanned, with four of them overlapping one another (Figure 1). These data are composed of individual scans referenced to one another using reflective targets, and geolocated using differentially corrected GPS and RTK locations of scan locations (Figure 3). There were overall large differences in point density among the two scanners (Figure 2).

These data were collected as part of a study to assess the stormwater volume reduction capabilities of urban street trees. In this paired-catchment study rainfall-runoff relations were developed in a medium-density residential area before and after half of the street trees were removed from the treatment basin. The Supplementary_Event_Data set contains rainfall depth and intensity, event date and duration, and paired runoff volume and peak discharge for 135 rainfall events that ocurred between May and September 2018-2020. Unit value discharge and rainfall data used to develop the Supplementary_Event_Data are also published in this data release.

Semi-arid urban environments are undergoing an increase in air temperatures, both in average temperatures and in the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events. Within cities, different varieties of urban landcovers (ULC) and their densities influence local air temperatures, either mitigating or increasing heat. Currently, understanding how various combinations of ULCs influence air temperature at the block to neighborhood scale is limited due to the complexities of urban energy balances at small scales.
