A polygon dataset of current and future community footprints in the SNK REA derived from the Tiger/Line File with modification (see the process steps for details). (The TIGER/Line Files are shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) that are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line File is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. The TIGER/Line Files include both incorporated places...

The community footprints for the CYR REA were produced by digitally tracing the built areas from satellite imagery. This was done to represent the actual community footprints more accurately than would have been possible from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER) files. TIGER files are geospatial files with information on several political and administrative units. These shapefiles include polygon boundaries of geographic areas and features, linear features including roads and hydrography, and point features. The communities in Alaska were released as a polygon shapefile, with each community’s boundary identified. However, there were two major concerns with...

This dataset represents the planned energy projects that were submitted to the Alaska Energy Authority Renewable Energy Fund Grant Recommendation Program. The dataset contains only projects that are in the "Planned" phase, which can be anywhere from the conceptual design and feasibility phase to nearly completed but not yet functional.

The USGS Governmental Unit Boundaries service from The National Map (TNM) represents major civil areas for the Nation, including States or Territories, counties (or equivalents), Federal and Native American areas, congressional districts, minor civil divisions, incorporated places (such as cities and towns), and unincorporated places. Boundaries data are useful for understanding the extent of jurisdictional or administrative areas for a wide range of applications, including mapping or managing resources, and responding to natural disasters. Boundaries data also include extents of forest, grassland, park, wilderness, wildlife, and other reserve areas useful for recreational activities, such as hiking and backpacking....

These community points were derived from Census TIGER files that were redigitized to aerial photos for each of the community. After the developed areas were redigitized, the feature to point tool was ran to create points within each community polygon to designate its geographic center. Energy data from the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) Power Cost Equalization Program Statistical Report that identified communities with electric utilities participating in the PCE Program and use diesel-fired generators to produce more than 75% of its electrical consumption was joined to these points using 2010 FIPS codes.

This point file was derived from the community footprints for the Central Yukon REA. The points were manually edited and moved from their default position to a location that corresponded with the actual community location based on satellite imagery. The footprint feature class was produced by digitally tracing the built areas from satellite imagery. A vector polygon GIS file of all city and town boundaries in New York State. The file was originally a compilation of U.S. Geological Survey 1:100,000-scale digital vector files and NYS Department of Transportation 1:24,000-scale and 1:75,000-scale digital vector files. Boundaries were revised to 1:24,000-scale positional accuracy and selectively updated based on municipal boundary reviews, court decisions and NYS Department of State Local Law filings for annexations, dissolutions, or incorporations. Currently, boundary changes are made based on NYS Department of State Local Law filings (http://locallaws.dos.ny.gov/). Additional updates and corrections are made as needed in partnership with municipalities.
