This dataset includes the audio-magnetotelluric (AMT) sounding data collected in 2009 in and near the San Luis Basin, New Mexico. The U.S. Geological Survey conducted a series of multidisciplinary studies, including AMT surveys, in the San Luis Basin to improve understanding of the hydrogeology of the Santa Fe Group and the nature of the sedimentary deposits comprising the principal groundwater aquifers of the Rio Grande rift. The shallow unconfined and the deeper confined Santa Fe Group aquifers in the San Luis Basin are the main sources of municipal water for the region. The population of the San Luis Basin region is growing rapidly and water shortfalls could have serious consequences. Future growth and land management...

This dataset includes the magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in 2005 along an east-west profile north of Wells, Nevada. It is important to know whether major mining districts in the Northern Nevada Gold Province are underlain by rocks of the Archean Wyoming craton, which are known to contain orogenic gold deposits, or by accreted rocks of the Paleoproterozoic Mojave province. It is also important to know the location and orientation of the Archean/Proterozoic suture zone between these provinces as well as major basement structures within these terranes because they may influence subsequent patterns of sedimentation, deformation, magmatism, and hydrothermal activity. This study was funded by the U.S. Geological...

This dataset includes audiomagnetotelluric (AMT) sounding data collected in 2008 in and near the Patagonia Mountains of southern Arizona. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) conducted a series of multidisciplinary studies as part of the Assessment Techniques for Concealed Mineral Resources project funded by the USGS Minerals Resources Program in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service. The USGS used AMT data at six sites along a southwest-northeast profile of about 10 kilometers (km) across the northwest-trending Sunnyside porphyry copper system.

This dataset consists of 16 repeated magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected on Mount Tongariro, New Zealand, before (2009) and after (2013) the 2012 eruption. The data were collected in same locations with similiar instruments. Preeruption and posteruption electromagnetic magnetotelluric measurements determine variation in subsurface electrical properties resulting from changes in magmatic system associated with the 2012 eruptive cycle.

This dataset includes the locations for audio-magnetotelluric (AMT) sounding data collected in August 2017 in the Buffalo River watershed of northern Arkansas by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The sites were mostly alongside Osage Creek and its intermittent tributaries. Along with geologic mapping, the USGS used AMT data at 6 sites along a southwest-northeast profile of about 7 kilometers across the inferred northeastern margin of the Bear Creek uplift within the southern Ozark Dome to better constrain the buried, northeastern margin of the Bear Creek uplift.

This data release includes audiomagnetotelluric (AMT) sounding data collected in July 2018 in the Silverton Caldera complex, Colorado, in the Southern Rocky Mountain Volcanic Field, by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Along with geologic mapping, airborne magnetics, airborne electromagnetics, and magnetotellurics, the USGS collected AMT data at 24 sites along four profiles ranging from 3 to 6 kilometers in length across the north-western structural margin of the Silverton caldera in Mineral Basin (MB01-MB05), across the south-eastern margin of the caldera along Cunningham Creek (CC01-CC05), within the caldera in Eureka Graben (EG01-EG05), and within the caldera along upper Cement Creek near the Gold King mine...

This dataset consists of 65 magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2015 near Mountain Pass, California. The U.S. Geological Survey acquired these data to create a regional conductivity model near the Mountain Pass mine. This work is in support of characterizing mineral deposits.

This dataset consists of 14 magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2015 near San Pablo Bay, California along a east-northeast profile. The U.S. Geological Survey acquired these data to understand the fault geometry of the Hayward Fault and the Rodgers Creek Fault.

This dataset includes the locations of magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2006 in the Southern San Luis Valley, Colorado. The U.S. Geological Survey conducted a series of multidisciplinary studies, including MT surveys, in the San Luis Valley to improve understanding of the hydrogeology of the Santa Fe Group and the nature of the sedimentary deposits comprising the principal groundwater aquifers of the Rio Grande rift. This dataset consists of 24 magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2017 in Gabbs Valley, Nevada. The U.S. Geological Survey acquired these data as part of Phase 2 of the Nevada Play Fairway Analysis Project led by the University of Nevada at Reno and funded by the Department of Energy (grant number DE-EE0006731) with support from the U.S. Geological Survey's Energy Program.
