Streamgage levels on the Elwha River were measured from 2011 to 2016. These measurements show the height of the river's water surface, both in meters relative to the stream bed, as well as in meters relative to vertical geographic coordinates. Measurements were collected using a Global Water WL16 battery-operated vented water level logger in a hardened casing. The instrument was installed on October 17, 2011 on the left bank of the Elwha River at a power line crossing above the Elwha Surface Water Intake (at approximately river kilometer 5.6), which is downstream of the (now historical) Elwha Dam site. Data collection ended May 12, 2016. The data were collected as part of a study investigating responses of the Elwha...

This dataset contains an inventory of South Carolina U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgages evaluated in 2017 as part of gage network gap assessment. Both continuous record and crest stage gages are included in this dataset. The data are grouped into three categories: rural streamgages with equal to or greater than 10 years of peak-flow data, rural streamgages with less than 10 years of peak-flow data, and urban streamgages.

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains the data used in the USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2018-5053 entitled "An exploratory Bayesian network for estimating the magnitudes and uncertainties of selected water-quality parameters at streamgage 03374100 White River at Hazleton, Indiana, from partially observed data." The four datasets, which contain only ASCII characters in a column-oriented format, are: (1) sel_qw_parm_full_time_series.csv: A comma-delimited file containing an irregular time series of 713 rows of discrete water-quality measurements that start on February 21, 1973 and end on September 14, 2016. (2) baye_network_initialize.cas: This tab-delimited file can be used to initialize...
This file (wymt_ffa_2018D_WATSTORE.txt) contains peak flow data for peak-flow frequency analyses for selected streamgages in and near the Milk River Basin, Montana, based on data through water year 2018. The file is in a text format called WATSTORE (National Water Data Storage and Retrieval System) available from NWISWeb (http://nwis.waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/peak).
This dataset contains base-flow recession time constant (tau) contours that are interpreted from tau values calculated at streamgages in the Niobrara National Scenic River study area. The contours were created by interpolating the calculated tau values using geostatistical kriging methods. Kriging is a geostatistical method that can be used to determine optimal weights for measurements at sampled locations (streamgages) for the estimation of values at unsampled locations (ungaged sites). The kriged tau map could be used (1) as the basis for identifying areas with different hydrologic responsiveness, and (2) in the development of regional low-flow regression equations. The Geostatistical Analyst tools in ArcGIS Pro...

The USGS Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WY–MT WSC) completed a report (Sando and McCarthy, 2018) documenting methods for peak-flow frequency analysis following implementation of the Bulletin 17C guidelines. The methods are used to provide estimates of peak-flow quantiles for 50-, 42.9-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, 1-, 0.5-, and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities (AEPs) for selected streamgages operated by the WY–MT WSC. This data release presents peak-flow frequency analyses for selected streamgages in and near the Milk River Basin, Montana, that were based on methods described by Sando and McCarthy (2018).

Ecological assessment data from the USGS National Water-Quality Assessment Program and the USEPA National River and Stream Assessment were reviewed and records were retained from sampling sites co-located with active USGS stream gages. A limited amount of ancillary data, including location, physical watershed features, and basic water chemistry data for each site were also retained.

This child item contains the Mathworks Matlab mat-file outputs from the scripts described in the Ancillary Scripts child item. Each file contains the results for a particular field site. See the FGDC metadata Process Steps section for more information about opening these files. The mat-files included here have a standard set of output variables and include a variable named "zzVariableDescriptions" in each mat-file which describes the contents of the file. The following variables and descriptions are included in each mat-file (extracted from the "zzVariableDescriptions" variable): calibration_distance: The distance between calibration points in meters. calibration_points: Pixel coordinates of the calibration points....

The purpose of this USGS data release is to publish NC SELDM streamflow statistics and summary statistics of physical and chemical data in support of the information provided in the above-referenced report. This data release consists of two data sets, "NC SELDM streamflow statistics..." and "NC SELDM summary statistics for physical and chemical data...". The tables that are uploaded for the "NC SELDM streamflow statistics for 266 streamgages across North Carolina" sub-section are primarily the support files for the StreamStatsDB update that was completed when the report was approved. These files were generated using the GNWISQ and QSTATS computer programs developed and described by Granato (2009, appendices 1 and...

This hydrologic and landscape database was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge and contributing watersheds in Florida and Georgia. The database was developed as an assessment and evaluation tool to use in examining refuge-specific hydrologic patterns and trends as related to water availability and water quality for refuge ecosystems, habits, and target species. The database includes hydrologic time series data, statistics on landscape and hydrologic time series data, and hydro-ecological metrics that can be used to assess refuge hydrologic conditions. The database is described in detail in Open File Report 2017-1018.
This dataset includes vertical velocity profiles and river discharge at cross section of interest where velocity measurements were taken on the Arkansas River at Parkdale, Colorado. Each profile contains measurements at various depths at the y-axis, which is the vertical in the cross-sectional profile where the maximum velocity (umax) occurs. These measurements were taken using a FlowTracker, FlowTracker2 ® instrument (FlowTracker2, 2020) when wading was possible; if wading was not possible, measurements were taken from a boat using an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) under stationary bed conditions. Data are presented in a comma separated value (CSV) file.

The base-flow recession time constant (tau) is a hydrologic index that characterizes the ability of a ground-water system to supply flow to a stream draining from that system. The magnitude of tau indicates the degree of hydraulic conductivity of the stream to the groundwater system. Larger tau values indicate a stronger dependence on the groundwater system for streamflows, a smaller base-flow recession value indicates that the stream is not as dependent on the groundwater system for streamflows. Tau and other correlated hydrologic indices have been used as explanatory variables to greatly improve the predictive power of low-flow regression equations. Tau can also be used as an indicator of streamflow dependence...

eDNA-based spatiotemporal distribution data (occupancy model format) for rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus) within the Bruneau-Jarbidge Rivers Wilderness in southern Idaho and northern Nevada, USA. The U.S. Geological Survey, in collaboration with American Rivers and other partners, conducted a monitoring program beginning in 2010 to track river response to a series of dam removals on the Patapsco River intended to restore anadromous fish habitat in the watershed. Dam removals included the November 2010 removal of the Simkins dam, a 3.3 m tall and 66 m wide dam, with a reservoir sediment volume of ~67,000 cubic meters. As part of the dam removal monitoring program, three USGS streamgaging stations were established in late 2010 along the mainstem of the Patapsco River to estimate flow and suspended sediment-transport for constraining sediment budgets. USGS 01589000 Patapsco River at Hollofield, MD was reestablished...
