The purpose of the Coral Reef Evaluation and Monitoring Project (CREMP) is to monitor the status and trends of selected reefs in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary(FKNMS). CREMP assessments have been conducted annually at fixed sites since 1996 and data collected provides information on the temporal changes in benthic cover and diversity of stony corals and associated marine flora and fauna. The core field methods continue to be underwater videography and timed coral species inventories. Findings presented in this report include data from 109 stations at 37 sites sampled from 1996 through 2008 in the Florida Keys and 1999 through 2008 in the Dry Tortugas. The report describes the annual differences (between...

In 1998, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) Fisheries Independent Monitoring (FIM) program began a long-term monitoring effort of key reef fish populations in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. This effort was aimed at evaluating the relative abundance, size structure, and habitat utilization of specific reef fish species that are targeted by commercial and recreational fisheries.; Smith, S.G., et al. 2011, Multispecies survey design for assessing reef-fish stocks, spatially explicit management performance, and ecosystem condition. Fisheries Research 109(2011)25-41; Brandt, M.E., et. al. 2009, A Cooperative Multi-agency Reef Fish Monitoring Protocol for the Florida Keys Coral...

The idealized test domain is utilized to study vertical tracer mixing without the presence of advection terms. The tracer starts to mix under the application of a surface stress. The model results are intended to be accessed from the THREDDS data server available through the related external resources. The model NetCDF files are stored on this trusted digital repository to ensure backup and longevity of these data.

This table contains information about the amount of each threat analysis attribute, indicator and metric quantified for the 6th level Hydrological Unit (HUC12). These attributes were calculated for the entire HUC 12, the streams within the HUC 12, or the riparian corridor within the HUC 12. The attributes were calculated using ArcMap Tools These data are provided by Bureau of Land Management (BLM) "as is" and may contain errors or omissions. This map shows risk models for invasive species within the ecoregion. Samples of invasive species are presenting -- falling within 4 categories (exotic, annual grasses, noxious forbs, and woody riparian). Bioclimate data for cheatgrass and tamarisk weed is also shown. The input dataset used for all analysis done for these models are also included. These data are provided by Bureau of Land Management (BLM) "as is" and may contain errors or omissions. 2010 USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Region Aerial Detection Survey Data. This data depicts the occurrence and location of forest insect, disease, and other biotic and abiotic causes of tree mortality and tree damage. Aerial survey data is collected by observing areas of tree damage or tree mortality from an aircraft and manually recording the information onto a map. Due to the nature of aerial surveys, this data will only provide rough estimates of location, intensity and the resulting trend information for agents detectable from the air. Many of the most destructive diseases are not represented in the data because these agents are not detectable from aerial surveys. The data presented should only be used as...

This map contains:Aquatic Intactness results for the State of Utah and the Colorado Plateau Ecoregion, HUC6/12-Digit HUC resolution.Aquatic Species Intactness results clipped to 22 different species' distributions, showing the AI status/condition for each of these species of interest in Utah and the COP. An experimental Aquatic Intactness model for the Escalante subregion, which tests a methodology to incorporate detailed/specialized datasets available for only a portion of the study site into the model without penalizing no-data areas in the final intactness score. The Escalante experimental model utilizes two additional themes: riparian vegetation conversion and grazing impact. Unfortunately Grand Staircase National...

This map shows areas that have experienced fire between 1999 and 2010, including fire severity information where available. Determination of "change" due to fire is not possible due to the lack of highly accurate pre- and post-fire maps of vegetation conditions, and the wide range of possible interpretations of what constitutes a change. Instead, the focus was placed on mapping the location of fires and severity; the overall likelihood of significant change in short term vegetation conditions increases with fire severity.
