This collection consists of eastern screech owls that were hatched at the Eastern Ecological Science Center (EESC) for research purposes. They are no longer needed for USGS research purposes, so they have been transferred to the Goshawk Society. All of the owls have lived their lives in captivity and cannot be released to the wild. They are full winged, captive bred, and parent-reared, so they are not habituated to people other than brief contact for feeding. There are 14 female owls and 22 male owls in the collection, with ages ranging from hatch year 2006 to 2021. The owls were transfered to the Goshawk Society in two groups.
