These data were compiled as part of a field and growth chamber study of the establishment of Salsola tragus (Russian thistle), an invasive non-native annual plant in North America. Field work was conducted at Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona in 2015 and 2016 and the growth chamber study was conducted in 2016. The data represent field measurements of Salsola germination and growth (cover) and sediment movement at two field sites, one a stabilized sand sheet (SS) and the other on the ridge of a sand dune (SD). The data also represent a growth chamber assessment of the soil and litter seed bank from representative samples take at the two field sites.

To understand the genetic structure of six rare plant species (Acanthomintha ilicifolia, Baccharis vanessae, Chloropyron maritimum ssp. maritimus, Deinandra conjugens, Dicranostegia orcuttiana, Monardella viminea), we obtained samples from known occurrences in San Diego County, prepared and sequenced ddRAD genomic libraries, and developed and analyzed a panel of genetic markers to assess population diversity and divergence. During 2018, uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs or 'drones') were used to collect spatially referenced aerial imagery from 20 management units (sites) enrolled in the Phragmites Adaptive Management Framework, a collective learning program developed by the Great Lakes Phragmites Collaborative. Management units were located in Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin (USA). Plant and soil data were collected in experimental plots in two sites ("Terrace" and "Hilltop") at Wind Cave National Park, South Dakota, and one site ("BSV") at Badlands National Park, South Dakota. At each site, 70, 2.5 x 2.5 m plots were assigned randomly to nitrogen-alone or nitrogen+water addition treatments (or no treatment for the control). Treatments were applied and data collected 2010-2013. The dataset includes six tables: (1) experimental treatments by plot and year; (2) plant and soil metrics analyzed in the larger work; (3) plant tissue and soil total carbon and nitrogen raw data; (4) plant biomass raw data; (5) canopy and ground cover raw data; and (6) canopy and ground cover codes.

This dataset contains information on the survival of sagebrush seedlings originating from seed collected from 3 'local' populations over 2+ years. Datasets presented consist of individual seedling survival, growth and reproduction data as well as population level results as they relate to the differences in modeled and calculated climate variables and the differences between the climatic conditions of the seed source sites and the common garden sites.
We assessed the impacts of co-occurring invasive plant species on fire regimes and postfire native communities in the Mojave Desert, western USA by analyzing the distribution and co-occurrence patterns of three invasive annual grasses known to alter fuel conditions and community structure: Red Brome (Bromus rubens), Cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum), and Mediterranean grass (Schismus spp.: Schismus arabicus and Schismus barbatus), and an invasive forb, red stemmed filaree (Erodium cicutarium) which can dominate postfire sites. These data are a species-level classification map of riparian vegetation in the Colorado River riparian corridor in Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA. The classification is derived from 0.2 m pixel resolution multispectral aerial imagery acquired in May 2013. The classification spans the riparian zone of the river corridor between Glen Canyon Dam near Page, Arizona, and Lake Mead at Pearce Ferry, Arizona. This model was constructed to model the risk of invasion by exotic plant species. Roads may directly influence exotic plant dispersal via disturbance during road construction or via alterations in soil regimes. For example, in Californian serpentine soil ecosystems, exotic plant species can be found up to 1km from the nearest road and Russian thistle (Salsola kali), an exotic forb growing along roads, is wind-dispersed over distances greater than 4km. This data record contains fitness data for Visher's buckwheat (Eriogonum visheri) for the years 2014, 2015 and 2017 at Badlands National Park, South Dakota, USA. These data include insect visitation, pollen deposited on stigmas, achene size and germination over three field seasons (two field seasons for germination: 2015 and 2017) in four populations (two populations in 2017).

The St. Clair River delta, part of the St. Clair-Detroit River System (SCDRS), is the most fished coastal wetland area in the Laurentian Great Lakes and provides nursery habitat for a variety of fish species; however, few large-scale surveys of early fish life stages have been performed since the 1980s. Larval fish, zooplankton, and aquatic plants were sampled at 21 sites in delta channels and backwaters of the St. Clair-Detroit River System (SCDRS; USA/CAN) from May to July in 2010 and 2011 to characterize the habitats and resources used by larval fish in the delta. Larval fish were captured using conical nets and light traps, and diets from larval white sucker (Catostomus commersonii) were collected at three sites.
