Sediment magnetic, paleomagnetic and geochemical results have beenobtained from lacustrine sediments recovered in a 30-meter coretaken by rotary drilling methods at Grass Lake, Siskiyou County,California. The data have been analyzed and interpreted in termsof environmental change in the Grass Lake catchment over the pastca. 100,000 years.
The drilling project at Owens Lake commenced in April,1991. This Open-File Report represents an effort to makeavailable to other researchers our preliminary datacollected during the first year of study followingcompletion of the core-drilling phase. Nineteen datacollections and preliminary interpretations are presentedin the following sections. They are the work of fifteenfirst-authors and their numerous co-authors. Broadly, their topics include a field log of the core(1 contribution), sedimentological analyses (1), clay-mineral identification (1), geochemical analyses (5),dating and age estimates of the cored sediments (4), andidentifications of fossil materials (7).
This database contains a comprehensive inventory of geologic (coral, coral reef, limestone, and sediment) cores and samples collected, analyzed, published, and/or archived by, or in collaboration with, the U.S. Geological Survey St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center (USGS SPCMSC). The SPCMSC Geologic Core and Sample Database includes geologic cores and samples collected beginning in the 1970s to present day, from study sites across the world. This database can be accessed through the CoreViewer 3.0 ArcOnline web mapping application, linked below. A copy of the data can also be downloaded from the web mapping application and the metadata is accessible through a link in the header of the application, as...

Sediment magnetic and geochemical results have been obtained fromthe top 60 meters of lacustrine sediments recovered in two coresfrom Tule Lake in northern California. The sediment magnetic andgeochemical data, presented here in tabular form, complementstudies of diatoms and pollen in the cores that are the bases forpublished paleoclimatic interpretations. This report alsodocuments the methods used to obtain the magnetic properties andgeochemical data.
During the summers of 2017 and 2020, our team collected gravity, ground magnetic (ATV and hiked traverses), paleomagnetic and rock property (density and susceptibility) data on the Umatilla Indian Reservation (UIR) in northeast Oregon to aid in characterizing subsurface stratigraphy using 2D and 3D modeling methods. This data was integrated with conductance surfaces from a 3D magnetotelluic model and regional stress data to generate geothermal resource favorability maps to inform future exploration and drilling efforts by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR).

Sediment magnetic and paleomagnetic studies were conducted on a core fromBuck Lake, Klamath County, Oregon, that was collected as part of aninvestigation into the Quaternary climate history of the western UnitedStates. This report documents the methods used to obtain paleomagneticdirections, magnetic properties, and ancillary data, and presents thesedata in tabular form.
From late 2017 to early 2018, our team collected gravity, ground magnetic (ATV and hiked traverses) and rock property (density and susceptibility) data in southern Gabbs Valley in west-central Nevada.
