This collection primarily contains economic geologic information on mines in Mohave County, but also includes more general files on other states and mineral commodities. William Crutchfield, Jr. earned his master's degree from The University of California in 1953. He began working for Santa Fe Mining, Inc. in California in the 1960s as a Mining Engineer and later as Exploration Manager. He stayed with the company until the 1980s.

Kelsey Boltz has been a registered mining engineer and geologist in Arizona since the mid 1960s. A 1953 graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, he founded Colamer Corporation and Nuclear Dynamics, both companies active in the uranium industry in the Grants Uranium Region of New Mexico in the '50s, '60s and '70s. In 1981 he co-founded Century Capital, Inc., an investment banking and retail brokerage firm which provided several hundred million dollars financing for various industries including natural resource companies. In 1990 he started his exploration consulting company, Boltz Group International, which initiated and managed several mining projects in Mexico, Chile and Bolivia. The collection consists of geologic...

This collection (known internally at Maryland Geological Survey as Component 9) consists of 1,474 black-and-white aerial photographs (1,472 unique frames plus 2 duplicates) plus 2 index maps which serve as a finding aid for the photographs in the two sub-components of this collection -- DC Collection 1 and DC Collection 2. The photographs are 9 in. by 9 in. in size and cover Washington, DC and vicinity (including portions of Maryland and Virginia). The counties in Maryland covered by these aerial photographs are Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George's Counties. No date is printed on these photographs; however, based on features shown in the photographs, Maryland Geological Survey (MGS) estimates...

This collection (known internally at Maryland Geological Survey as Component 8) consists of 211 infrared, 9 in. by 9 in. aerial photographs (211 unique frames) flown on a 7.5-minute U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) quadrangle basis. The photographs date from 1988-1989 and were flown or otherwise acquired by the USGS National Aerial Photograph Program (NAPP). The Maryland counties covered by these photographs include Allegany, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Kent, Prince George’s, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, St. Mary’s, Talbot, Washington, and Worcester Counties. The scale of these photographs is not printed on the photographs; however, Maryland Geological Survey (MGS) calculates the scale to be approximately...

There are over 1,000 individual logs from over 450 different holes across the state. Holes include municipal wells, monitoring wells as well as deep and shallow drill holes. Logs collected may include: gamma, caliper, single point resistivity, self potential, normal resistivity, fluid temperature, fluid conductivity, flow meter - heat pulse, flow meter- spinner, optical borehole imager, and acoustic borehole imager. Locations of boreholes and PDF images and LAS files for more than 700 Geophysical Logs can be viewed at https://data.wgnhs.wisc.edu/data-pres-2018/ . New logs are added to this online map as they are added to the WGNHS sample tracking system, Geobase.
Thin sections were scanned at 1x1 scale then enlarged in photoshop to make the features easily veiwable. Cross polarization film was used to create the cross polarized scans. This is a collection of thin sections from the state of New Mexico representing some of the formations in the state. Funding was provided by NGGDPP award G18AS00010.

40 bedrock samples were collected from surface outcrops in Vermont. Samples are the same set as those analyzed for thermal conductivity as part of the National Geothermal Data System program. All analyses were done at AcmeLabs, Canada. Samples were analyzed using ICP – ES (emission spectroscopy) and ICP-MS (mass spectrometry). 11 major elements plus Ni and Sc were analyzed by ICP-ES following a lithium borate fusion and dilute acid digestion. Analyses include Loss on ignition (LOI) and Leco analysis for total carbon and sulphur. A 45 element suite of trace elements was analyzed using ICP-MS (mass spec). Rare earth elements and refractory elements report from a lithium borate decomposition to give total abundances....
Petrographic slides of New Mexico and surrounding areas used in Adam Smith's 2018 thesis: Multi-stage processes affecting the generation of REE-enriched episyenites and fenites in NM and Colorado: the role of magmatic and diagenetic fluids based on 40Ar/39Ar geochronology, whole rock geochemistry and radiogenic isotope. Field work was partially funded by New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources.

The Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology (MBMG) Mining Property File collection was amassed over the years through private and industry donations of engineering and geologic reports, pictures, correspondence, news clippings, and production information. The collection presently contains over 4,400 property-specific files (records). The physical files are organized first by Montana county and then by mine or project name. Files may contain information related to a particular mining claim, a collection of claims, or a mining exploration project. Metadata describing each record includes property name, location (county, historical mining district, township, range and section), georeferences (latitude and longitude), and...
Radioactive mineral deposit locations were compiled on maps and lists, as well as production data/deposit summaries, in the CGS report: Nelson-Moore, J.L., Collins, D.B., and Hornbaker, A.L., 1978, Radioactive Mineral Occurrences of Colorado, Colorado Geological Survey Bulletin 40, 1,054 p. This comprehensive report contains 12 map plates that record the location of radioactive minerals, including past mined deposits, throughout Colorado. Also, the report contains compilations of production (if available), deposit type, mineral, and other data associated with each location. Most of the records are associated with uranium/vanadium deposits but also include deposits containing REEs and other minerals.

Continuous bedrock core from about 50 sites across CT. Stored in 1100 boxes. This collection has been rescued three times since its formation in the late 1980's. Formerly administrative responsibility was shared between the University of Connecticut Dept. of Geology and Geophysics (now disbanded) and the Dept. of Environmental Protection, Geological and Natural History Survey. The State Survey now houses the collection and is the sole administrator.
