This dataset contains the physical collection information (e.g., sample location, date, gear type) and microsatellite DNA genotype of egg and larval Lake Sturgeon collected in the St. Clair and Detroit rivers in 2015 and 2016. Individuals were genotyped for 18 microsatellite loci (13 disomic and 5 polysomic). Alleles (base pair sizes) were recorded as presence absence scores (1:present, 2:absent, 0:missing data) for all previously observed alleles. Thus individual genotypes were recorded as pseudo diploid dominant phenotypes resulting in individual vectors of length n=205 for each genotyped egg or larval individual.

Synonymies, diagnoses, descriptions, illustrations, an identification key and meristic frequency tables are provided for all species of Lonchopisthus. Most of the skeletal anatomy of L. higmani is also illustrated. A new jawfish, Lonchopisthus ancistrus n. sp., is described from the Gulf of Mexico and off Honduras based on 21 specimens 41‒89 mm standard length (SL). It differs from other congeners by the following combination of characters: posterior end of maxilla strongly hooked; membrane connecting maxilla and premaxilla and inner membrane covering posterior part of dentary pale; segmented dorsal-fin rays 11–13, with unbranched rays 2–5; longitudinal body scale rows 33‒39; and very long pelvic fins, 39.4‒75.3...

Black carp Mylopharyngodon piceus and grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella are morphologically similar species imported from eastern Asia to North America as biological control organisms. Preferred identification methods are coloration and pharyngeal tooth form. Grass carp possess serrated teeth and black carp molariform teeth. Examination of pharyngeal teeth causes extensive damage to a specimen, and is labor and time intensive. Coloration can vary within a species and fades with preservation. We present a suite of external characteristics consisting of a truss network canonical variate analysis of distance measurements among landmarks on the lateral view of the head of each fish, the ratio of head length to mouth...
This data release includes field data for fishes sampled through mid-water trawls and otter trawl methods from Suisun Bay, CA to the mouth of the Sacramento River. These data were collected from September 9, 2022 through October 6, 2022 as a part of a multi-year study of Suisun Dredging and Fish Distribution (SDFD). This data release includes quantitative data on collected fish taxa focused on habitat differences between shipping channels and shoals. Sampling was done using short duration (~15 minute) trawls alongside associated water quality sample and Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data collected at variable locations, depths, times, and currents.

This data release links fish survey data from a suite of programs in the Chesapeake Bay watershed as well the benthic macroinvertebrate sites included in the Chesapeake Bay Basin-wide Index of Biotic Integrity (Chessie BIBI) developed by the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin (ICPRB) and available from the Chesapeake Bay Program (https://datahub.chesapeakebay.net/LivingResources). The data set contains site name, survey program, coordinates of sample, and ancillary information such as sample date and site location information where available. It also includes the NHDPlus V2.1 unique identifier, COMID, as well as a confidence classification category for each of these assignments based on a set of pre-determined...

We analyzed morphological and molecular data from one existing and one newly discovered population of 'bullseye' snakehead (Teleostei: Channidae) from Florida. Morphological and meristic data were collected from museum collections and compared with data from recent taxonomic revisions of related species in the 'Marulius' species group from southeast Asia. Additionally, we performed DNA sequencing of COI barcodes from museum tissue vouchers (corresponding with lots examined for morphology) and compared these sequences with an existing COI barcode library for the 'Marulius' group. These analyses were used to determine the taxonomic identity of snakeheads established in Florida.
Growth potential of redband trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss newberri) was simulated across 175 river segments in the Donner und Blitzen River basin for water years 1980 through 2021 using a bioenergetics model. A previously published framework for assessing climate vulnerability of redband trout was used to simulate the growth potential of redband trout in relation to constraints on body size, physiological responses linked to variable thermal regimes, and variation in physiological adaptive capacity. For body size, three starting sizes of redband trout, 10 g, 50 g, and 150 g, were used for each day of the simulations. For thermal regimes, daily stream temperatures were estimated from PRISM. To account for variation...
This data release contains calculated metrics which summarize various biodiversity and functional/life history trait information about fish communities sampled across the Chesapeake Bay Watershed as well as ancillary data related to time/place of sampling and sampling methodology. The fish sampling data used to compute these metrics were compiled from various fish sampling programs conducted by state and federal agencies, county governments, universities, and river basin commissions across the watershed. Prior to computation of community metrics data from individual fish sampling programs were investigated for completeness and data entry errors. Subsequently, desired fields were extracted from each individual dataset...

We compiled electrofishing and habitat data sampled from 1990 to 2019 in the Harney Basin by the US Geological Survey (USGS), Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and the High Desert Partnership (HDP) to describe native and non-native fish distributions and their habitat associations. USGS collected eDNA data in 2019 to refine the known distributions of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Site transect length, channel width, depth, and gradient were recorded concurrently with fish sampling. Site elevation was derived from statewide digital elevation models (DEM). We used Tableau, a visualization platform, to display fish distributions in the Harney Basin. This data release supersedes Laramie, M.B., Mejia, F.H.,...
