This metadata references the polygonal ARC/INFO GIS cover showing the current and historic distribution of potential habitat, or range, of the Greater Sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) and Gunnison Sage-grouse (Centrocercus minimus) in Western North America. This data was initially researched and compiled by Dr. Michael A. Schroeder, research biologist for the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. The initial draft of current and historic range data was mapped and submitted to state, federal, or provincial natural resource agencies and other experts for review, comment, and editing. The final product represents the best available science and expert review available at the time of compilation.Definition...

This data set depicts a preliminary version of the management zone boundaries for Greater and Gunnison sage-grouse in the western United States and Canada. These boundaries were digitized from a hand drawn figure originally created by the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies' (WAFWA) Sage-grouse Conservation Planning Framework Team for use in the Greater Sage-grouse Comprehensive Conservation Strategy. The delineation of sage-grouse management zones provide a context for the Sage-grouse Conservation Planning Framework Team to keep track of changes in sage-grouse populations and habitat trends and to identify where appropriate conservation strategies might be implemented.</purpose> This represents...

The Gunnison Climate Working Group is a chartered partnership of 14 public and private organizations in Colorados Upper Gunnison Basin. The Southern Rockies LCC (SRLCC) funded The Nature Conservancy to complete a comprehensive vulnerability assessment identifying species and ecosystems most at risk from climate change. The assessment included a set of habitat adaptation strategies for priority species, such as the Gunnison sage-grouse. As a final product, local demonstration projects were designed and installed. The financial support and partnership provided by the SRLCC was critical to the Gunnison Climate Working Groups success and progress towards addressing climate change. As a direct result of the SRLCC involvement,...

The USGS GAP Analysis Program has developed range maps and distribution models for 1401 species, 604 of which are found within the SRLCC. This record's parent folder contains several examples of GAP species web services. The GAP website has a complete list of available web services for species as well as a map viewer for species data. Species: Gunnison Sage-grouse ( Centrocercus minimus) There are two web services for this species: the range map, showing the geographic limits within which the species can be found, and a distribution model, which predicts the environment within the range that is suitable for occupation by the species. Link to metadata for GAP range maps and distribution models. To access services,...
