During the last glacial maximum (LGM), the western Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah were occupied by the Western Uinta Ice Field. Cosmogenic Be-10 surface-exposure ages from the terminal moraine in the North Fork Provo Valley and paired Al-26 and Be-10 ages from striated bedrock at Bald Mountain Pass set limits on the timing of the local LGM. Moraine boulder ages suggest that ice reached its maximum extent by 17.4 +/- 0.5 ka (+/- 2 sigma). Be-10 and Al-26 measurements on striated bedrock from Bald Mountain Pass, situated near the former center of the ice field, yield a mean Al-26/Be-10 ratio of 5.7 +/- 0.8 and a mean exposure age of 14.0 +/- 0.5 ka, which places a minimum-limiting age on when the ice field melted...

This dataset includes well logs used in the creation of the Cortland hydrogeologic framework. Well logs were used from multiple sources (DEC, DOT, NWIS) and were a crucial component in generating hydrogeologic layer elevations and thicknesses. Well logs are available in their original form on GeoLog Locator (https://webapps.usgs.gov/GeoLogLocator/#!/) and provided here in the digitized form (shapefiles and feature classes), which were used in the generation of the hydrogeologic framework.

Digital hydrogeologic datasets were developed for the Rondout-Neversink study area in upstate New York in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. These datasets define the hydrogeologic framework of the valley-fill aquifer and surrounding till-covered uplands within the study area. Datasets include: bedrock elevation raster, lacustrine silt and clay top and bottom elevation rasters, lidar minimum elevation raster, lacustrine extent polygon, valley-fill extent polygon, and surficial geology polygons. Elevation layers were interpolated at 125-foot discretization to match the model grid cell size.

Smoothing points were manually added and were used to enhance interpolated layers using geologic assumptions and include: valley edge points, centerline bedrock points, and upland bedrock SSURGO points.

Between 27 and 11 kyr ago, during the last major (Naptowne) glaciation, the northwestern and western Kenai Peninsula and the Cook Inlet trough were covered by ice except for local nunataks and small refugia, like the Caribou Hills. Landforms related to four glacial stades are recognized and paleogeographic maps document ice limits, drainage systems, glacial-impounded lakes, and glaciomarine terraces. Numerous multidisciplinary studies of glacial, vegetation, and insect histories document Holocene climatic changes.

This surficial-geologic map shows the distribution of unconsolidated deposits and undifferentiated bedrock in the Faith Creek area in the Circle A-4, A-5, B-4, and B-5 quadrangles. This map was prepared principally by the interpretation of 1:63,360-scale, false-color, infrared aerial photographs taken in 1979 and 1981 and is locally verified by ground observations during field work in 2007.
This geologic map area of 5,430 km2 spans a reach of the lower Missouri River valley and adjoining uplands for about 100 kilometers east of Gavins Point Dam, the easternmost mainstem dam on the Missouri River. Understanding the surficial geologic history of the valley is relevant to natural resource management of the Missouri National Recreational River and is foundational to improved understanding of hydrology and ecology. This geodatabase is a synthesis of recent FEDMAP, EDMAP, and STATEMAP work of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program with previously published maps of the geologic surveys of South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, and the USGS. Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Sagavanirktok B-1 Quadrangle (640 square km´┐Żequivalent to four 7.5 minute quadrangles). This mapping project reinterprets micropaleontologic correlations for 17 Sagavanirktok Quadrangle wells, and reprocesses data from the one publicly-available seismic line. Surface geologic mapping, subsurface-to-surface stratigraphic age control, and seismic framework are required to reliably decipher the complex geology of this key area of the Brooks Range.
