The paper version of the Geologic Map of the eastern part of the Challis National Forest and vicinity, Idaho was compiled by Anna Wilson and Betty Skipp in 1994. The geology was compiled on a 1:250,000 scale topographic base map. TechniGraphic System, Inc. of Fort Collins Colorado digitized this map under contract for N.Shock. G.Green edited and prepared the digital version for publication as a GIS database. The digital geologic map database can be queried in many ways to produce a variety of geologic maps.

![]() The geologic map of the Hogback Mountain quadrangle, scale 1:24,000, was made as part of the Montana Investigations Project to provide new information on the stratigraphy, structure, and geologic history of an area in the geologically complex southern part of the Montana disturbed belt. In the Hogback Mountain area, rocks ranging in age from Middle Proterozoic through Cretaceous are strongly folded within and under thrust plates of equivalent rocks. Continental rocks of successive thrust plates have been telescoped eastward over a buttress of the stable continent. Erosional remnants of Oligocene andesitic basalt lie on highest surfaces eroded across the strongly deformed older rocks; younger erosion has dissected...

This digital map database, compiled from previously published andunpublished data, and new mapping by the authors, represents thegeneral distribution of bedrock and surficial deposits in themapped area. Together with the accompanying text file (ceghmf.ps,ceghmf.pdf, ceghmf.txt), it provides current information on thegeologic structure and stratigraphy of the area covered. Thedatabase delineates map units that are identified by general ageand lithology following the stratigraphic nomenclature of the U.S.Geological Survey. The scale of the source maps limits the spatialresolution (scale) of the database to 1:100,000 or smaller.

1:24,000-scale geologic mapping in the Clifton 7.5' quadrangle, insupport of the USGS Colorado River/I-70 Corridor Cooperative GeologicMapping Project, provides interpretations of the Quaternarystratigraphy and geologic hazards in this area of the Grand Valley. The Clifton 1:24,000 quadrangle is in Mesa County in westernColorado. Because the map area is dominated by various surficialdeposits, the map depicts 16 different Quaternary units. Fiveprominent river terraces are present in the quadrangle containinggravels deposited by the Colorado River. The map area contains alarge landslide deposit on the southern slopes of Mount Garfield. The landslide developed in the Mancos Shale and contains large blocksof the overlying...
This quadrangle lies 6.4 km (4 mi) northeast of Bozeman, Mont., insouthwestern Montana. Metamorphic, sedimentary, and volcanic rocksof Precambrian to Tertiary age are exposed in the Bridger Range andsouthwestern margin of the Crazy Mountains Basin in a crustal crosssection and a structural triangle zone. Surface geology recordsPrecambrian extension, Late Paleocene east-vergent contraction, including backthrusts, and Holocene basin-range extension.
This data release consists of point data digitized from structural geologic orientation symbols consisting of mostly foliations and lineations. The data comes from primarily Proterozoic aged rocks in the eastern-central Rocky Mountain Front Range of Colorado. Compilation of the data is from twenty-three geologic maps published by the U.S. Geological Survey and the Colorado Geological Survey between 1964 and 2009, primarily using 7.5-minute, 1:24,000 scale quadrangles. Structural geologic orientation data of planar features (e.g., foliations) and linear features (e.g., fold axes), both with associated attribute values of strike and trend, dip and plunge, location, elevation, and geologic unit were captured for more...

The geologic map database of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park region of Tennessee and North Carolina is a result from studies from 1993 to 2003 as part of a cooperative investigation by the U.S. Geological Survey with the National Park Service (NPS). This work resulted in a 1:100,000-scale geologic map derived from mapping that was conducted at scales of 1:24,000 and 1:62,500. The geologic data are intended to support cooperative investigations with the NPS, the development of a new soil map by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory. In response to a request by the NPS, we mapped previously unstudied areas, revised the geology where problems existed, and developed...

![]() In 1986 and 1987, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the DireccinGeneral de Geologa, Minas e Hidrocarburos, and the Universidad deCosta Rica conducted a mineral-resource assessment of the Republicof Costa Rica. The results were published as a large 80- by 50-cmcolor folio (U.S. Geological Survey and others, 1987). The 75-pagedocument consists of maps as well as descriptive and interpretivetext in English and Spanish covering physiographic, geologic, geochemical, geophysical, and mineral site themes as well as amineral-resource assessment. The following maps are present in theoriginal folio:1) Physiographic base map at a scale of 1:500,000 with hypsography, place names, and drainage.2) Geologic map at a scale of...
The geology of the Eminence 7 1/2-minute quadrangle ,Shannon County, Missouri was mapped from 1996 through 1997as part of the Midcontinent Karst Systems and GeologicMapping Project, Eastern Earth Surface Processes Team. Themap supports the production of a geologic framework thatwill be used in hydrogeologic investigations related topotential lead and zinc mining in the Mark Twain NationalForest adjacent to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways(National Park Service). Digital geologic coverages will beused by other federal and state agencies in hydrogeologicanalyses of the Ozark karst system and in ecological models.
