This data set is comprised of a potential distribution model for the ferruginous hawk within the Northwestern Plains Ecoregion. Observations used in maxent were from 1990 - present. This dataset was reclassed to show only the low, moderate and optimal maxent data based on the MT/Threshold thresholds.
This dataset presents current and future change agent models and combined future potential for change (PFC) within ferruginous hawk potentially suitable habitat. The ferruginous hawk potentially suitable habitat extent was determined using the SWReGAP Vertebrate Habitat Distribution Model for the ferruginous hawk clipped to the study area for the SLV-TP Landscape Assessment. This dataset presents current and future change agent models and combined future potential for change (PFC). Potential for change (PFC) was determined by calculating the maximum potential for change among all change agents within each 1 km reporting unit. Current and future landscape intactness(LCM_C_FZ and LCM_N_FZ) are based on measures of...

The Commission on Environmental Cooperation, in concert with a trinational group of experts, has identified North American species of common conservation concern (SCCC). These terrestrial and marine species comprise a group of important migratory, transboundary and endemic species selected from among the continent’s great wealth of wild flora and fauna, which require regional cooperation for their effective conservation.
This data set is comprised of a potential distribution model for the ferruginous hawk within the Northwestern Plains Ecoregion. Observations used in maxent were from 1990 - present. These data are statistical model outputs for ferruginous hawk (Buteo regalis) species distribution, completed by Frank Davisâ Biogeography Lab at UC Santa Barbara. The UCSB Biogeography Lab used Maxent to generate predictions of habitat occupancy for ~70 species for the CA Energy Commissionâs project âCumulative Biological Impacts Framework for Solar Energy in the CA Desertâ, 500-10-021. Species distribution models were produced at 270 m resolution using a subset of 22 environmental variables. Models were evaluated with 10-foldcross validated AUC scores. Results are preliminary and have notyet been reviewed by expert biologists. Both continuous probability surfaces and binary layers are available for each...
General habitat model for ferruginous hawks using MaxEnt software, Phillips and others, 2006. Values of vegetation and abiotic variables at 598 mapped ferruginous hawk locations, with nests and observations of individual birds provided by Colorado Natural Heritage Program, Idaho Fish and Wildlife Information System, Montana Natural Heritage Program, Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory, Utah Natural Heritage Program, and the Wyoming Natural Diversity Database, since 1990 were derived from data from SAGEMAP, Hanser and others, 2011, Homer and others, 2012, USGS, and WorldClim. Variables with the greatest weight included topographic ruggedness, elevation, the average temperature of the warmest quarter, and slope. The map...

This map contains:Terrestrial Intactness results for the State of Utah and the Colorado Plateau Ecoregion, 1 km resolution.Terrestrial Species Intactness results clipped to 15 different species' distributions, showing the TI status/condition for each species of interest in the COP.These datasets provide an estimate of current terrestrial intactness (i.e. condition) based on the extent to which human impacts such as agriculture, urban development, natural resource extraction, and invasive species have disrupted the landscape across the State of Utah and the Colorado Plateau Ecoregion. Terrestrial intactness values will be high in areas where these impacts are low.Documentation of model structure and input data and...

Synopsis: This model is based around Native Prairie Cover types, and Soil Texture. Native Prairie Class (NPC) is derived from the Native Prairie Vegetation Baseline Inventory developed by AlbertaEnvironment. Class I is comprised of greater than 75% native prairie components (i.e. shrubs, graminoids, riparian areas, lakes, wetlands, and trees), Class 2 is 50 - 75%, Class 3 is 25 - 50%, Class 4 is 1 - 25%, and Class 5 is no native prairie components. Native prairie is probably the most important and limiting factor for ferruginous hawks. Although hawks have been found in areas that were primarily under cultivation), they were in close proximity to prairie in good condition. Overall NPC was selected over its individual...
