Southwestern North America faces an imminent transition to a warmer, more arid climate, and it is critical to understand how these changes will affect the carbon balance of southwest ecosystems. In order to test our hypothesis that differential responses of production and respiration to temperature and moisture shape the carbon balance across a range of spatio-temporal scales, we quantified net ecosystem exchange (NEE) of CO2 and carbon storage across the New Mexico Elevational Gradient, which consists of six eddy-covariance sites representing biomes ranging from desert to subalpine conifer forest. Within sites, hotter and drier conditions were associated with an increasing advantage of respiration relative to production...

These data were compiled from six automated weather stations that together provide several points in the meteorological record across a latitudinal and elevational gradient in southeastern Utah. Recorded data from these weather stations are associated with several different studies. Meteorological data are important for quantifying short term weather events as well as longer term climate trends. Spatially separated precipitation gauges allow for better characterization of the heterogeneity of precipitation events. These data were collected from six locations running from north to south in southeast Utah. All of the weather stations use Campbell Scientific data loggers and data are collected daily via telecommunications...

This topobathymetric digital elevation model (TBDEM) represents the topography and bathymetry for the Eastern Shore peninsula of Virginia, including Accomack and Northampton counties, and extending into Worcester and Somerset counties in Maryland. The TBDEM has a horizontal grid spacing of 1 meter and vertical units of 1 (integer) centimeter. This dataset combines U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center Coastal National Elevation Database topobathymetric DEM (CoNED TBDEM) data with data from the USGS Northern Atlantic Coastal Plain DEM, the latter of which were used to extend the bathymetric surface further offshore. In some areas, National Map 3D Elevation Program (3DEP)...
