This dataset represents tidal inlets before Hurricane Sandy from the "Beach and Tidal Inlet Habitat Inventories" project. Tidal inlets were located along the U.S. North Atlantic coast from Maine to Virginia using Google Earth imagery to identify inlets that were open prior to Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. The locations of historical inlets known to have been open in the past but closed at the time of Hurricane Sandy were identified through historical maps, literature and other sources. See the reports by T.M. Rice entitled "Inventory of Habitat Modifications to Tidal Inlets in the U.S. Atlantic Coast Breeding Range of the Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus) prior to Hurricane Sandy: South Shore of Long Island...

This dataset represents the locations and names of tidal inlets open along the North and Mid-Atlantic coast. The data are part of the "Inventory of Habitat Modifications to Tidal Inlets in the U.S. Atlantic Coast Breeding Range of the Piping Plover (Charadruis melodus) as of 2015: Maine to North Carolina" project. Tidal inlets were located and identified using imagery from Google Earth (2015 and early 2016), U.S. Geological Survey iCoast and the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Imagery Program to identify inlets that were open in 2015. An inventory of the inlets was compiled with known habitat modifications recorded for each inlet using Microsoft Excel. Inlets that were historically open also...

To provide daily mean streamflow values at ungaged (partial-record) sites within the Yankee Fork Salmon River watershed, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, used discharge measurements at three partial-record sites and related those measurements to a nearby USGS real-time streamgage (index site). Daily mean streamflow was estimated by developing a regression relationship between each partial-record site and the index site for water years 2012-2019. These data are intended to provide daily mean streamflow estimates at partial-record sites as part of a larger study (Clark and others, 2021) to estimate sediment loading for each site.
