Effigy Mounds National Monument Vegetation Mapping Project - Spatial Vegetation Data

The vegetation spatial database coverage (vegetation map) is a product of the Effigy Mounds National Monument Vegetation Mapping Project, USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program (VMP). The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC) in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and the Minneapolis Office of NatureServe in Minneapolis, Minnesota, have completed mapping and classification of existing plant communities of Effigy Mounds National Monument (EFMO) and extended surroundings. High resolution vegetation polygons mapped by the National Park Service. The vegetation units of this map were determined through stereoscopic interpretation of aerial photographs supported by field sampling and ecological analysis. The vegetation boundaries were identified on the photographs by means of the photographic signatures and collateral information on slope, hydrology, geography, and vegetation in accordance with the Standardized National Vegetation Classification System (October 1995). The mapped vegetation primarily reflects conditions that existed during 1994 and 1995. Voyageurs National Park Vegetation Mapping Project - Spatial Vegetation Data

The vegetation spatial database coverage is of Voyageurs National Park and extended environs, covering 156,886 hectares (387,674 acres). Voyageurs National Park comprises 88,244 hectares (218,055 acres) of the total coverage area (56%). Almost 33,000 polygons make up the coverage, each with map unit description and physiognomic attribute information. The database provides crosswalk information to all USNVC floristic and physiognomic levels and several other classification systems (ecological groups/subgroups, Minnesota communities, NW Ontario forest and wetland ecosystems, USGS land use/land cover). Acadia National Park Vegetation Mapping Project - Spatial Vegetation Data

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC) has produced the Vegetation Spatial Database Coverage (vegetation map) for the Acadia National Park Vegetation Mapping Project, USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program (VMP). The vegetation map is of Acadia National Park (NP) and extended environs, providing 99,693 hectares (246,347 acres) of map data. Of this coverage, 52,872 hectares (130,650 acres) is non-vegetated ocean, bay, and estuary (53% of coverage). Acadia NP comprises 19,276 hectares (47,633 acres) of the total data coverage area (19%, 40% not counting ocean and estuary data).
