A suite of geophysical methods was used along the Des Moines River, Beaver Creek, and in the Des Moines River floodplain in Des Moines, Iowa to support the hydrogeologic characterization of the alluvial aquifer associated with the river. The aquifer consists of sands and gravels underlain by weathered shale bedrock. Groundwater from the aquifer along with surface water sources are used for municipal drinking water for the City of Des Moines and surrounding communities. The raw data provided in this data release are minimally processed to filter out erroneous measurements. This data release includes raw and processed (inverted) data for three different geophysical methods, continuous resistivity profiles (CRP), direct current electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), and frequency domain electromagnetic induction (FDEM) data. These surface geophysical methods were used as a proxy for groundwater salinity in the Paradox Valley in western Colorado to investigate temporal and spatial variations in the position of brine-rich groundwater under the Dolores River. From October 2016 to July 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Maine Department of Transportation, collected surface, marine and borehole geophysical surveys to characterize the subsurface materials on land and under the water at a former mine facility in Brooksville, Maine. Three water-based geophysical methods were used to evaluate the geometry and composition of subsurface materials. Continuous seismic profiling (CSP) methods provide the depth to water bottom, and, when sufficient signal penetration can be achieved, delineate the depth to bedrock and subbottom materials. In April 2015, approximately 19 miles of continuous resistivity profiling (CRP) surveys were collected on the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The CRP method was used to characterize the resistivity of the water column and subbottom materials. Five CRP profiles were collected concurrently with the continuous seismic methods. For this investigation, 11 electrodes spaced 10 m apart and mounted in a streamer were towed behind the boat and data were collected using the dipole-dipole array type. This data release consists of two .csv files of inverted models of electrical resistivity created from the processed resistivity data in the accompanying two data releases: (Miller and Others, 2018) and (2018 Raw and Processed, in progress). During 2016, 17, and 18, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted continuous resistivity profiling along 15 rivers or lakes in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain of Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Missouri to characterize streambed hydraulic conductivity values. These techniques characterize the near surface geomorphology of the streambed that controls the recharge to the alluvial aquifer. This data release has three components for each of the eight surveys that were conducted in 2018: 1) a geospatial dataset of the processed data; 2) tabular data of the processed waterborne resistivity profiling data and associated water-quality data; 3) tabular data of the raw waterborne resistivity data and associated water-quality data. This content represents a map displaying the vector data corresponding to the processed datasets for the waterborne resistivity profiling surveys of streams in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain. The .sd file is an ESRI service definition file containing all the data (capatible for use in ESRI ArcDesktop). This file bundle contains 8 shapefiles, each representing an individual stream. These are all displayed in the map service definition. Users can also download the .sd file and extract the content (using 7zip, winzip, etc.) on their local machine to obtain all the stand-alone shapefiles.

A continuous resistivity profiling (CRP) survey was conducted in a 1.2-mile reach of the Similkameen River upstream of Enloe Dam in December 2021 in Washington State. The survey was performed to characterize the resistivity of the water column and subbottom materials using the CRP method.
