Conservation planning, the process of deciding how to protect, conserve, enhance and(or) minimize loss of natural and cultural resources, is a fundamental process to achieve conservation success in a time of rapid environmental change. Conservation targets, the measurable expressions of desired resource conditions, are an important tool in biological planning to achieve effective outcomes. Conservation targets provide a focus for planning, design, conservation action, and collaborative monitoring of environmental trends to guide landscape-scale conservation to improve the quality and quantity of key ecological and cultural resources. It is essential to have an iterative and inclusive method to define conservation...

This project will conduct a synthesis of marine spatial data. An OPS staff will be hired to work with marine/coastal experts – to develop a Technical Advisory Group and gather data and input on the processes used in the marine assessment. Additionally, this project will identify key inland (terrestrial and freshwater) areas that currently have or may have in the future direct and indirect impacts on the health of the marine environment. Results of this project will be the basis for the marine component of the Landscape Conservation Design being developed by the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative. Every effort will be made to build upon existing science and other ongoing projects that may be developing...

The PFLCC and Florida’s State Wildlife Action Plan have goals in common including working with partners to develop shared priorities, working at the landscape scale, developing conservation targets to monitor progress of species and habitat conservation efforts, and providing a forum for dialogue about the most important actions to take to conserve Florida’s natural and cultural resources. Partnering in these initiatives will achieve greater results for wildlife and habitat conservation in Florida. In addition, the FWC has already undertaken key activities that are foundational to the PFLCC including development of the Cooperative Conservation Blueprint and support of the Critical Lands and Waters Identification...

These data represent a potential Conservation Target for the Working Lands Priority Resource of the PFLCC. The potential Conservation Target for Working Lands is Configuration or Landscape Integrity. Two data sets are included that address different aspects of configuration for our Priority Resources. The CLIP 4.0 Landscape Integrity Priority layer provides a measure of Landscape Integrity at the largest scale, putting the integrity of Working Lands within context of the overall landscape integrity of the natural habitats of the region. For additional metadata on The CLIP 4.0 data see the CLIP 4.0 data gallery located within the PFLCC Community. The Nature Conservancy also evaluated landscape integrity at...

These data represent a potential Conservation Target for the Working Lands Priority Resource for the PFLCC. The potential Conservation Target shown is Wildlife Compatibility within Working Lands. Available data that address this aspect of Working Lands are the Vertebrate Species Richness produced by the Florida Natural Areas Inventory (FNAI) and available from their website as part of the CLIP 4.0 geodatabase.

Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative,
This project entails creation and refinement of the conservation targets for the terrestrial Priority Resources for the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative. Potential Conservation Targets were developed through stakeholder Workshops held throughout the State of Florida in 2016/2017. Lists of potential CTs were generated through brainstorming and general discussion and stakeholders ranked the final list for suitability for using as a measure of Priority Resource health. The resulting list of potential CTs for the Freshwater Forested Wetlands Priority Resource were explored and the results were presented to the Freshwater Forested Wetlands team. The potential CTs were ranked according to the availability...

This geodatabase contains geographic and tabular information pertaining to priority conservation areas in western North America. The region encompasses a sequence of mountain ranges, including the Rocky Mountains, that form the backbone or spine of the western North America, along with the surrounding deserts and semi-arid lands. Priority conservation areas (hereafter referred to as conservation areas) are geographic areas that have been selected because of the sensitive biological species, habitats, and features (hereafter referred to as targets) that are known to occur in these areas. Conservation, protection, and management actions within these areas should be prioritized in order to ensure persistence and survival...

This data set shows the portion of PFLCC's Priority Resource: Freshwater Forested Wetlands that is currently labelled as 'Verified Impaired Water Body' by the State of Florida DEP. Because it takes so much data and time to remove a body from the Verified Impaired List, this data set will not be used as a Conservation Target to indicate water quality within Freshwater Forested Wetlands. PFLCC Staff are seeking additional data sources that could provide that information.

This map combines the predicted distributions (whenever possible) and the spp. occurrences (from the FNAI element occurrence database when we don't have a predicted distribution) for the 16 species included in the Wildlife Best Management Practices. This will be used in conjunction with PFLCC's Working Lands Priority Resource, and potentially spatial data on Notices of Intent for Wildlife on Agricultural and/or Forestry Lands. Sources for data: Harlequin Darter, Bluenose shiner, and Blackmouth shiner -- predicted distributions came from Fish Species Distribution Modeling (2013) Crystal Darter, Tessellated Darter, Santa Fe Crayfish, and Georgia Blind Salamander -- spp. occurrences from FNAI element occurrence (from...

The FWC has been heavily involved in contributing to and shaping the three LCC’s that include Florida, with special emphasis on the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative (PFLCC), which falls entirely within the state of Florida.Substantia lresources from multiple partners will be required to establish and maintain the PFLCC.FWC will partner with the Service and through this Cooperative Agreement will work in collaboration with the Service to assume roles and responsibilities of the Science Coordinator and Communication Coordinator for the PFLCC.The activities included in the Science Coordination section of this report were completed by the FWC PFLCC Science Coordinator (Kate Haley, July 2013 –July...
