This data release consists of information from published tables in Connecticut Water Resources Bulletins (WRBs) transcribed into tabular digital format. Information about wells and test holes in the WRBs used in this data release consists of geographic location, depth to consolidated rock (bedrock depth), and depth of the well or test hole. The WRBs, published between 1966 and 1980 by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with either the Connecticut Water Resources Commission or the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, provided the foundational datasets for companion interpretive USGS Water-Resources Investigation Reports. NOTE: Version 2.0 adds 196 records but is otherwise identical to...

Data from 391 boreholes (including coreholes) that penetrated buried pre-Cretaceous basement rocks that lie beneath Atlantic Coastal Plain sedimentary deposits in Georgia and South Carolina were compiled from non-proprietary, mostly published sources in order to support subsurface geologic mapping, geologic interpretation of geophysical data (aeromagnetic, gravity, seismic), topical studies as in geochronology, and applications ranging from mineral, energy, and water resources to earthquake hazards in the Charleston seismic zone. Most of the entries are based on previous literature. In a few cases where noted, drill cores or cuttings were examined for basic geologic observations. Boreholes into bedrock beneath the...

The U.S. Army Fort Irwin National Training Center (NTC), approximately 35 miles north-northeast of Barstow, California, obtains all of its potable water supply from three groundwater basins (Irwin, Langford, and Bicycle Basins) within the NTC boundaries. In these basins, groundwater withdrawals exceed natural recharge, resulting in water-level declines. However, managed aquifer recharge using treated wastewater has offset water-level declines in Irwin Basin. Additionally, localized water-quality changes have occurred in some parts of Irwin Basin as a result of human activities (for example, wastewater disposal practices, landscape irrigation, and (or) leaking pipes). As part of a research study in cooperation with...

Boreholes were drilled in 2017 and 2018 in Redwell Basin, a headwater catchment underlain by mineralized and hydrothermally altered sedimentary rock in the Elk Mountains near the town of Crested Butte, Colorado. Site locations and well construction are documented under the main page of this data release. Hydraulic data were acquired during drilling and on core samples to estimate the hydraulic properties of selected geologic materials. While advancing the drill stem, long-interval packer tests were conducted in MW1 and MW2 boreholes to measure in-situ formation permeability. The open borehole interval targeted for each hydraulic test was exposed by raising the drill stem about 10 m above the bottom of the hole....

From October 2016 to July 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Maine Department of Transportation, collected surface, marine and borehole geophysical surveys to characterize the subsurface materials on land and under the water at a former mine facility in Brooksville, Maine. Borehole geophysical logs were collected from May 2-3, 2017 in five boreholes to identify geophysical properties, including the electrical properties and natural gamma emissions. In addition, fluid electrical conductivity and temperature were collected through the water column in the well. Results can be used to identify the water level and the lithologic contacts in the subsurface. Natural...
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) entered into cooperative agreements with the Santa Barbara County Water Agency and Vandenberg Space Force Base to conduct a hydrologic resource assessment and develop an integrated numerical hydrologic model of the San Antonio Creek Valley watershed (SACVW). As part of this study, the USGS developed a digital three-dimensional hydrogeologic framework model (HFM). This dataset contains a geospatial database related to the digital HFM, individual geographic information system (GIS) shapefiles from the geodatabase, and borehole data used to support development of the HFM in a Microsoft Excel workbook (*.xlsx extension). The geospatial database contains the following data elements:...
