The aquatic index of ecological integrity, version 3.1, was used as a mask to extract the aquatic classed from DSLland, version 3.1. Since streams flow into other habitats, such as wetlands, you will notice additional classes included here.
Approximately 298 acres of seasonal shallow water wetland habitat will be established or enhanced for water birds and waterfowl by constructing and repairing low level dikes and installing 6 water control structures. In addition, permanent water wetlands will be constructed enhance the wetland complex.

All Conservation Design Elements identified through a multi-year conservation planning effort undertaken by the Appalachian Landscape Conservation Cooperative (LCC). These elements were identified by the program Marxan as meeting collective conservation targets. Datasets include a merged design of all five elements, individual element shapefiles, and a prioritization shapefile (Conservation Design elements outlined by the NatureScape Design that were then placed into a prioritization framework based on Margulis and Pressy 2000).

These datasets are one of two versions of aquatic core areas that are part of a suite of products from Nature’s Network (naturesnetwork.org). Nature’s Network is a collaborative effort to identify shared priorities for conservation in the Northeast, considering the value of fish and wildlife species and the natural areas they inhabit. This model was based upon expert review, known habitat and known locations of the species. The model can be linked or joined via the "Seg_ID" to the streams layer used in this project. Using the "present" field, the predicted presence locations of the paddlefish can be shown for every stream segment in the known range of the species within the study area. This model was developed using the boosted regression tree technique. The model was fitted using R version 2.14.0. The model can be linked or joined to the streams layer used in this project. In recent decades, mussel density and species richness have declined and many freshwater mussel species are listed as either State or Federally threatened or endangered species. In 1991, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) began a study of more than 50 major river basins across the Nation as part of the National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) project of the National Water-Quality Program. One of the major goals of the NAWQA project is to determine how water-quality and ecological conditions change over time. To support that goal, long-term consistent and comparable ecological monitoring has been conducted on streams and rivers throughout the Nation.
