This metadata is for the vegetation and land-use geo-spatial database for Zion National Park and surrounding areas. The project is authorized as part of the USGS/NPS Vegetation Mapping Program. The program is being administered by the Biological Resources Division (BRD), United States Geological Survey (USGS). The USGS/BRD is responsible for overall management and oversight of all ongoing mapping efforts. This mapping effort was performed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's (USBR) Remote Sensing and GIS Group, Technical Service Center, Denver, Colorado and NatureServe (formally The Nature Conservancy). The vegetation mapping program is part of a larger Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) program started by the National...
Comma-separated values (.csv) file containing data related to mercury concentrations in dragonfly samples from U.S. National Parks collected as part of the Dragonfly Mercury Project (DMP). This data release supersedes Eagles-Smith, C.A., Nelson, S.J., Flanagan-Pritz, C.M., Willacker Jr., J.J., and Klemmer, A.J., 2018, Total Mercury Concentrations in Dragonfly Larvae from U.S. National Parks (ver. 7.0, October 2021): U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P9TK6NPT. Comma-separated values (.csv) files containing data related to a National-scale assessment of mercury bioaccumulation in the US National Parks using dragonfly larvae as biosentinels through a citizen science framework.
This climate and vegetation index dataset was collected from readily available open source data, such as Landsat. The data represents points across the northern Colorado plateau. The vegetation type was defined based on U.S. Geological Survey ReGAP data. Using compositing techniques by season we developed a dataset of lag and legacy for each point. We could then look to understand how both lag and legacy impacted vegetation production across the time series. In this dataset we focus on the soil adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), the standardized precipitation and evapotranspiration index (SPEI), and precipitation. Included in this dataset are climate lags of 3,6,9 and 12 months. Additionally, the legacy construct...
