This study provides a detailed pedogenic evaluation of two Upper Triassic (Late Norian through Rhaetian) stratigraphic intervals in New Mexico in order to assess the climate and ecology of the Latest Triassic, which ended in a mass extinction. The two study areas are located in north?central and east-central New Mexico and are separated by 200 km. Each section contains abundant paleosols of varying maturity with features that reflect an arid to semiarid climate. There is little pedogenic variation throughout the strata at each location, and a typical paleosol profile is about 1 m thick and has an AB?Bw?Bk?BC horizon succession. Bkm, Bss, Bssk, or Bssg horizons are present in some paleosols. Micromorphological features...

Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Sagavanirktok B-1 Quadrangle (640 square kmequivalent to four 7.5 minute quadrangles). This mapping project reinterprets micropaleontologic correlations for 17 Sagavanirktok Quadrangle wells, and reprocesses data from the one publicly-available seismic line. Surface geologic mapping, subsurface-to-surface stratigraphic age control, and seismic framework are required to reliably decipher the complex geology of this key area of the Brooks Range. Outcrops within the Sagavanirktok B-1 Quadrangle are the closest surface expressions of Prudhoe Bay source and reservoir rocks. This study yields critical petroleum-related...
This geologic map and report present 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the south-central Sagavanirktok Quadrangle in northern Alaska. This area encompasses approximately 600 square miles in the northern foothills of the Brooks Range, and includes stratigraphic and structural elements important to understanding the oil and gas potential of Alaska's North Slope.
Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Sagavanirktok B-1 Quadrangle (640 square kmequivalent to four 7.5 minute quadrangles). This geologic map was produced by merging a bedrock geologic map and a surficial geologic map of the Eagle A-2 Quadrangle. This report presents in tabular form a complete listing of faunal and minor floral elements, along with their identification as known to date, for all fossils collected by field party members of the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) during their 1997 and 1998 geological mapping effort in the Healy A-6 Quadrangle. In addition, all known U.S. Geological Survey fossil localities that could be located from previously published maps are also shown on the fossil locality map and listed in the fossil register.
