The datasets provided here are the input data used to run the Seasonal Kendall Trend (SKT) tests and Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) models. SKT tests use "annualSamplingFreqs_allSites.csv" and "wqData_screenedSitesAll.csv" which includes, for all site-parameter combinations, information on annual sampling frequencies and the screened water-quality data, respectively. The WRTDS models use "DRB.wqdata.20200521.csv", "DRB.flow.20200610.zip", and "DRB.info.20200521.csv" for calibration which includes, for all site-parameter combinations, the water-quality data, streamflow data (as separate .csv files for each site), model specifications and site information, respectively. The multisource...

Brackish groundwater (BGW), defined for this assessment as having a dissolved-solids concentration between 1,000 and 10,000 milligrams per liter is an unconventional source of water that may offer a partial solution to current (2016) and future water challenges. In support of the National Water Census, the U.S. Geological Survey has completed a BGW assessment to gain a better understanding of the occurrence and character of BGW resources of the United States as an alternative source of water. Analyses completed as part of this assessment relied on previously collected data from multiple sources, and no new data were collected. One of the most important contributions of this assessment was the creation of a database...

The datasets provided here are the output from the Seasonal Kendall Trend (SKT) test and Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) model that characterize changes in water quality in rivers and streams across the Delaware River Basin. SKT results are compiled in "skt_out.csv" for all combinations of site, water-quality parameter, and trend period. WRTDS results are compiled in four datasets. If unspecified, generalized flow normalization (GFN) results are reported. Stationary flow normalization (SFN) results are indicated in the datasets. "wrtds_out_annResults.csv" contains the annual estimates of mean concentration and load and GFN and SFN estimates by site and parameter for the entire calibration...

This is a release of data presented in the report "Binational Study of the Transboundary San Pedro Aquifer", Callegary and others, 2016: Callegary, J.B., Minjárez Sosa, I., Tapia Villaseñor, E.M., dos Santos, P., Monreal Saavedra, R., Grijalva Noriega, F.J., Huth, A.K., Gray, F., Scott, C.A., Megdal, S.B., Oroz Ramos, L.A., Rangel Medina, M., Leenhouts, J.M., 2016, Binational Study of the Transboundary San Pedro Aquifer: International Boundary and Water Commission. The United States and Mexico share waters in a number of hydrological basins and aquifers that cross the International Boundary. Both the United States and Mexico recognize that, in a region of scarce water and expanding populations, better...
This digital dataset contains geochemical and other information for 1,209 samples of groundwater from 343 wells located within 3-miles of the Buena Vista, Elk Hills, Midway-Sunset, and North and South Coles Levee oil fields in the southwestern San Joaquin Valley of central California. Data were compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from preexisting datasets and transferred manually into two separate data files described as follows: 1) a summary data file identifying each well, it's location, basic well construction, the number of chemistry samples and period of record, and data sources; and 2) a data file of geochemistry analyses for selected water-quality indicators, major and minor ions, nutrients, and...

These data were compiled to quantify the role of Lake Powell in modulating salinity and reducing overall salt flux from the Upper Colorado River Basin downstream. In addition, these data were used to infer summertime calcite precipitation in Lake Powell (the major proposed sink for salt within the system). The Lake Powell Calcium Magnesium data contains summertime surface water calcium and magnesium concentrations along three transects that span the two major inflows to Lake Powell and the region of Lake Powell closest to the dam. The Modeled Salinity data was used to compare measured total dissolved solid concentrations at Lees Ferry to the instantaneous flow-weighted concentration of total dissolved solid entering...
This USGS data release represents the input data used to identify trends in New Jersey streams, water years 1971-2011 and the results of Weighted Regression on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) models and seasonal rank-sum tests. The data set consists of CSV tables and Excel workbooks of: • trends_InputData_NJ_1971_2011: Reviewed water-quality values and qualifiers at selected stream stations in New Jersey over water years 1971-2011 • trends_WRTDS_AnnualValues_NJ_1971_2011: Annual concentrations and fluxes for each water-quality characteristic at each station from WRTDS models • trends_WRTDS_Changes_NJ_1971_2011: Changes and trends in flow-normalized concentrations and fluxes determined from WRTDS models •...

In late August and early September 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall on the southeastern coastline of Texas and produced a record amount of rainfall, leading to widespread flooding. From August 25 through September 1, 2017, some areas in southeastern Texas received more than 60 inches of rain with large areas receiving at least 40 inches of rain. Hurricane Harvey was the largest rainfall event in United States history in terms of spatial extent and rainfall totals since rainfall records began in the 1880s (Watson and others, 2018). The five most heavily flooded river basins in Texas during this storm included the Brazos River, where the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collected water-quality samples at the Brazos...
