Sierra Nevada northern spotted owl habitat areas - Quincy library group pilot area (California, USA)
This polygon layer consists of California Spotted Owl Habitat Areas within the Herger-Feinstein Quincy Library Group (QLG) pilot project area. The pilot project is being implemented over approximately 1.5 million acres across the Lassen and Plumas National Forest and the Sierraville District of the Tahoe National Forest. The project is designed to test and demonstrate the effectiveness of fuels and vegetation management activities to meet ecologic, economic, and fuel reduction objectives.
![]() This dataset depicts Willow flycatcher habitat for National Forests in the Sierra Nevada Range. Meadows were derived from the Sierrawide meadow vegetation layer (MDVG) by reselecting for wet meadows with woody vegetation (WW) and without woody vegetation (WO). Some meadows were derived from reselecting willow-dominated vegetation from the existing vegetation (EVEG) layer. Initially, all meadows greater than or equal to 15 acres were categorized as Emphasis (E), and meadows smaller than 15 acres were categorized as Small (S). Meadows identified as containing a known willow flycatcher observation, which are identified as points in coverage WIFLPT_9, were then categorized as Occupied (O). Item WFLY_ID provides a link...
We produced this data set as part of a larger, integrated study to assess the statuses of populations of Anaxyrus canorus and the causes of observed effects on fitness at field sites, primarily in Yosemite National Park near Tioga Pass, from 1996 to 2001. To assess embryo mortality, we visually evaluated each individual embryo in an egg mass in situ while kneeling alongside it immediately before, at, or very soon after hatching (when individual capsules remained from hatched embryos and when any remnants of dead embryos typically still were visible). We did not assess mortality in any egg masses that had deteriorated too far to evaluate embryos. In 2001, a limited number of field personnel caused us to estimate...
