Geophysical and geological survey data were collected off Town Neck Beach in Sandwich, Massachusetts, in May and July 2016. Approximately 130 linear kilometers of subbottom (seismic-reflection) and 234-kilohertz interferometric sonar (bathymetric and backscatter) data were collected along with sediment samples, sea floor photographs, and (or) video at 26 sites within the geophysical survey area. This dataset contains measured (interval = 0.5 hour) wave height, peak wave period, water level, and water depth during March 1 to May 1, 2019, at five wave gage locations along the Chincoteague Living Shoreline, Virginia. These wave gages were sampled continuously at 10 Hz to take 20-min bursts every 30 min. These data were used for the analysis of wave attenuation along the oyster-reef-based living shoreline.

A medium resolution vector map of the Canadian and U.S. Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River shoreline is segmented into reaches and classified using a three tier scheme representing the geomorphic nature of the shoreline, the extent of shoreline protection, and the geomorphic nature of the nearshore subaqueous shoreline.
The dataset was developed for submission to the USGS National Hydrography Dataset (NHD). As the SEAK Hydro database evolves, so to will the metadata for this dataset. Until noted otherwise, please reference this metadata for an older version of the source data. This dataset contains polygons describing high and low tide shorelines with delineated intertidal areas for Southeast Alaska.
The Sea Surface Temperature (SST) data of the nearshore region of the North Pacific show temperature ranges in degrees C using points whose locations correspond to the centroids of AVHRR Pathfinder version 5 monthly, global, 4 km data set (PFSST V50). The pathfinder rasters are available from the Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC), hosted by NASA JPL. This part of the data release presents orthoimagery spanning the ocean shoreline of Alaska from Icy Cape to Cape Prince of Wales. Aerial images were collected, and data were processed, by Fairbanks Fodar (https://www.fairbanksfodar.com) in Fairbanks, Alaska, for the U.S. Geological Survey. The aerial images, from which the orthoimages were created, were collected in 2016 between August 29 and September 4 and extend from the shoreline to 400-4000 meters inland. This dataset is a compilation of completed, in progress, and planned restoration projects identified in the study area by the Deepwater Horizon (DWH) Project Tracker as of March 2022. The goal of compiling projects and information was to identify target resources and impacts of these projects in the study area. Projects were screened for action types, completion year, and resources intended to benefit from restoration in barrier island and shoreline systems. In addition, system components of structure and function were identified. The potential for geomorphological impacts was categorized among different types of projects.

This part of the data release presents a shapefile that includes a spatial index of orthoimagery and elevation data describing the Alaskan coastline from Icy Cape to Cape Prince of Wales. The data products referenced in this index include orthoimagery, digital surface models, and elevation point clouds which were generated from aerial imagery using structure-from-motion methods. Fairbanks Fodar, a contracted mapping service, collected the aerial imagery in 2016 and created all of the data products referenced here. This point shapefile approximates locations within 20 km of the North Pacific Coastline, as defined by the "World Country Boundaries (Generalized)" shapefile distributed by ESRI as part of their Data & Maps data series. They are based on raster data at 4 km resolution. Therefore there are between 3-5 points extending out from each location along the shoreline (at 4 km intervals).

The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM) launched the Shoreline Change Project in 1989 to identify erosion-prone areas of the Massachusetts coast. Seventy-six maps were produced in 1997 depicting a statistical analysis of shoreline change on ocean-facing shorelines from the mid-1800s to 1978 using multiple data sources. In 2001, a 1994 shoreline was added. More recently, in cooperation with CZM, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) delineated a new shoreline for Massachusetts using color aerial ortho-imagery from 2008 to 2009 and topographic lidar data collected in 2007. This dataset contains measurements of wave height, peak wave period, and water depth taken every 0.5 hours from February 13 to June 12, 2020, at three wave gauge locations along the Fog Point shoreline in Martin National Wildlife Refuge, Maryland. These wave gauges were continuously sampled at 10 Hz, capturing 20-minute bursts every 30 minutes (peak wave periods longer than 7s were removed). This feature class contains salt water polygons. The Forest shoreline originated from the cartographic feature files (CFF). All small islands not in the CFF were digitzed from 1:63,360 paper quads. Columbia Bay was replaced in 1993 with arcs digitized from 1990 CNF aerial photos (approx. scale 1:31680). Valdez Arm and Prince Wiilliam Sound (PWS) are closed with artificial arcs to create the salt water polygon for PWS.

Information was gathered to support a cumulative effects assessment of restoration in barrier island and shoreline systems of the north central Gulf of Mexico. Information includes: 1) results from two literature searches to help guide the development of a conceptual model of a barrier island and shoreline system and identify drivers and stressors important to that system, and 2) an accounting of restoration projects and descriptive information to document the distribution of Deepwater Horizon-funded restoration projects within the study area and guide the identification of potential effects on focal resources.
