This report and accompanying maps summarize the status of ownership of many phosphate bearing lands in the State of Utah. Ownership categories discussedare (1) phosphate rights owned by Federal Government, (2) phosphate rights not owned by Federal Government, and (3) ownership status uncertain.
The geology of the Jewel Cave SW quadrangle, South Dakota, and its bearing on the origin of the uranium deposits in the southern Black Hills
Geochemical sampling in the Western Cordillera has delineated an 18 km 2 area anomalous in copper, molybdenum, and silver. Highly anomalous metal contents are found in stream sediment, soil, and outcrop samples collected within this area. The area is underlain by intrusive granodiorite to quartz diorite that has porphyritic and granitoid phases. Most of the outcrop samples contain disseminated pyrite, chalcopyrite, and bornite. Reconnaissance geology of the Precambrian rocks in the Bi'r Ghamrah quadrangle, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Three sequences of volcanic and sedimentary rocks are identified in the Precambrian rocks of the Bi'r Ghamrah quadrangle at the eastern edge of the Precambrian Shield in central Saudi Arabia. The oldest sequence is called the Bi'r Khountina Group. It consists of conglomerate marble, andesite, and graywacke. Unconformably overlying this group is a sequence of graywacke with minor lava called the Murdama Group. In a small area in the southern part of the quadrangle, these rocks are unconformably overlain by rhyolitic tuff and rhyolite tentatively correlated with the Shammar Rhyolite. Before 1953 almost no barite deposits were known in Pakistan. Discovery of such deposits relatively close to oil fields in northern Pakistan in 1953 led to increased barite production from 1957 to 1961 and to doubling of production in 1962, firmly establishing new industry for the country. During 1962 and 1963, most of the known barite deposits in Pakistan were geologically mapped, and minimum reserves were estimated to be 1,423,000 short tons. The largest single deposit, Ehuzdar, is estimated to contain more than 1,100,000 short tons of barite. Barite has been found in Pakistan principally in the Hazara, Khuzdar, and Las Bela districts. From June 24 through August 16, 1960, a regional gravity survey was made in 3,600 square miles of the Snake River Plain in southwestern Idaho. Six hundred and seventy-two gravity stations were established between latitudes 42?30N and 43?30N and between longitudes 115?15W and 116?15W at an average density of one station per 5.4 square miles. The data were reduced to simple-Bouguer gravity by standard methods and plotted as a gravity contour map.
