The pre1939 shapefile displays the boundary between the floodplain and the uplands (a boundary that remains constant), while the 1939-2003 shapefiles (assicated with the geoTIFFs) display both the constant boundary between the floodplain and uplands and the changing boundary between the channel and the floodplain. The pre1939 shapefile is included to represent the floodplain formed before the earliest imagery in 1939. Both the flood plain and active channel of the river were delineated on the 1995 digital orthophoto quadrangles and overlaid on rectified photos. ArcGIS was used to draw the polygons that delineate the flood plain and active channel; the delineation was saved as a SHP file. There are no aerial images...

5 aerial photographs were taken along the Little Missouri River in 1995. All images were geo-referenced to the 1995 digital orthophoto quarter quadrangles as described by Miller and Friedman (2009). Both the flood plain and active channel of the river were delineated on the 1995 digital orthophoto quadrangles and overlaid on rectified photos. ArcGIS was used to draw the polygons that delineate the flood plain and active channel; the delineation was saved as a SHP file. The separate images (geoTIFFs) can be viewed as a composite along with that year's channel delineation (SHP file) using a geographic information system (GIS) application. A one-year seismic hazard forecast for the Central and Eastern United States, based on induced and natural earthquakes, has been produced by the U.S. Geological Survey. The model assumes that earthquake rates calculated from several different time windows will remain relatively stationary and can be used to forecast earthquake hazard and damage intensity for the year 2016. This assessment is the first step in developing an operational earthquake forecast for the CEUS, and the analysis could be revised with updated seismicity and model parameters. Consensus input models consider alternative earthquake catalog durations, smoothing parameters, maximum magnitudes, and ground motion estimates, and represent uncertainties...

This coverage provides an estimate of the highest annual average wind resource potential in the Greater Sage-grouse Conservation Assessment (CA) area. Wind power was measured at 50 meters above ground level. The vector data used to create this file was originally derived from a raster dataset (200m resolution) by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The original data provides seven "Wind Power Classes" to distinguish wind power density (W/m2). Only the highest wind power classes that fell within the CA boundary are represented in this dataset.

This data set depicts federal lands having restrictions on access or activities -- that is, lands mangaed by the National Park Service, Defense Department, or Energy Department -- in western North America. The data set was created by reformatting and merging state- and province-based ownership data layers originally acquired from diverse sources (including state GAP programs, USBLM state offices and other sources). For each original dataset 3 additional fields, "Pub_Pvt", "CA_OWN", and "SOURCE" were added and populated based on the specific ownership information contained in the source data. The original coverages were then merged based on the "CA_OWN" field. Finally, NPS, DOD, and DOE lands were selected out of...

This data release component contains shapefiles of river basin polygons and monitoring site locations coincident with the outlets of those basins. A table of basin attributes is also supplied. Attributes, observations, and weather forcing data for these basins were used to train and test the stream temperature prediction models of Rahmani et al. (2021b).<\p>

A summary data set of all fire polygons we could locate as of December 2007. We used multiple datasets to develop this layer, including data gathered from the internet, publically available databases, and personal contacts with dozens of agency personnel throught the western U.S. Data were assessed for utility (but not accuracy) and formatted for consistency. Each source data set was then attributed consistently with fields for record number and year (of fire). Because various resource management entities map fires somewhat independently (especially in more recent years) we merged overlapping polygons for each year. Users are encouraged to understand the contents of this data file before using it.

River transects were generated at 1-mile increments across select large river floodplains of the Upper Midwest, United States. These transects were created perpendicular to the river valley bottom centerline and were clipped by the floodplain boundary also generated. Transects that extended up into the valleys of connecting tributaries were not included because of spatial bias toward very large values. Inclusive features within the derived valley bottom outline such as raised plateaus were removed. The total length of these extended transects was then calculated. Five separate variables were developed to assess geomorphic connectivity potential using the transects: channel sinuosity, average floodplain width, standard...
