![]() This digital geologic and tectonic database of the Death Valley ground-water model area, as well as its accompanying geophysical maps, are compiled at 1:250,000 scale. The map compilation presents new polygon, line, and point vector data for the Death Valley region. The map area is enclosed within a 3 degree X 3 degree area along the border of southern Nevada and southeastern California. In addition to the Death Valley National Park and Death Valley-Furnace Creek fault systems, the map area includes the Nevada Test Site, the southwest Nevada volcanic field, the southern end of the Walker Lane (from southern Esmeralda County, Nevada, to the Las Vegas Valley shear zone and Stateline fault system in Clark County, Nevada),...
The fate of contaminants in the environment is controlled by both chemical reactions and transport phenomena in the subsurface. Our ability to understand the significance of these processes over time requires an accurate conceptual model that incorporates the various mechanisms of coupled chemical and physical processes. Adsorption, desorption, ion exchange, precipitation, dissolution, growth, solid solution, redox, microbial activity, and other processes are often incorporated into reactive transport models for the prediction of contaminant fate and transport. U.S. federal agencies use such models to evaluate contaminant transport and provide guidance to decision makers and regulators for treatment issues. We provide...

This digital geologic map of the Nevada Test Site (NTS) and vicinity, as well as its accompanying digital geophysical maps, are compiled at 1:100,000 scale. The map compilation presents new polygon (geologic map unit contacts), line (fault, fold axis, metamorphic isograd, dike, and caldera wall) and point (structural attitude) vector data for the NTS and vicinity, Nye, Lincoln, and Clark Counties, Nevada, and Inyo County, California. The map area covers two 30 x 60-minute quadrangles-the Pahute Mesa quadrangle to the north and the Beatty quadrangle to the south-plus a strip of 7.5-minute quadrangles on the east side-72 quadrangles in all. In addition to the NTS, the map area includes the rest of the southwest Nevada...

Forty years of geologic investigations at the Nevada Test Site (NTS)have been digitized. These data include all geologic information that:(1) has been collected, and(2) can be represented on a map within the map borders at the mapscale is included in the map digital coverages.
This data release consists of a Microsoft® Access database that contains groundwater withdrawal estimates from known and approximate well locations (withdrawal points) in the Death Valley regional groundwater flow system (DVRFS) to support a regional, three-dimensional, transient groundwater flow model (Belcher and others, 2017; Halford and Jackson, 2020). The database provides information for each withdrawal point including estimated location and completion interval (Moreo and others, 2003). Groundwater withdrawal estimates for each withdrawal point have been compiled by water use and year. Uncertainty was assigned to the annual withdrawal values based on the use and method of estimation (Moreo and others, 2003)....
![]() The locations of principal faults and structural zones that may influence ground-water flow were compiled in support of a three-dimensional ground-water model for the Death Valley regional flow system (DVRFS), which covers 80,000 square km in southwestern Nevada and southeastern California. Faults include Neogene extensional and strike-slip faults and pre-Tertiary thrust faults. Emphasis was given to characteristics of faults and deformed zones that may have a high potential for influencing hydraulic conductivity. These include: (1) faulting that results in the juxtaposition of stratigraphic units with contrasting hydrologic properties, which may cause ground-water discharge and other perturbations in the flow system;...
The depth of the basin beneath Frenchman Flat is estimatedusing a gravity inversion method. This dataset is distributed as an XYZ ASCII format data filegenerated from the 2002 gravity inversion model of the bedrockbeneath Frenchman Flat basin. Data forms a rectangular grid ofdata values in the defined projection. The data values are thedepth below the land surface,in meters, of the modeled locationof the Pre-Tertiary basement surface. The report whichaccompanies the data explains the modeling process and results.
