Spatial Vegetation Data for Wind Cave National Park Vegetation Mapping Project

This geospatial database covers vegetation land cover and land use for Wind Cave National Park and surrounding areas and is authorized as part of the USGS/NPS Vegetation Mapping Program <http://biology.usgs.gov/npsveg> . The program is administered by the Biological Resources Division (BRD) of the United States Geological Survey (USGS). This mapping effort was performed by the US Bureau of Reclamation's (USBR) Remote Sensing and GIS Group, Technical Service Center, Denver, CO. The vegetation mapping program is part of a larger Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) program started by the National Park Service (NPS) <http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/> . I&M goals are, among others, to map the vegetation of all national parks...

St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, ADCP Flow Diffusion of the St. Croix River near Hudson, WI, 20181004

Hydroacoustic (sonar) data were collected for the Mississippi, St. Croix, and Minnesota Rivers for the development of high-resolution bathymetry and sidescan imagery. Small areas containing priority mussel habitat had additional collection efforts to map water velocities and bottom composition. Combining these data in a GIS can provide key components to characterizing physical benthic habitat for native mussels in a riverine environment. These information needs were highly desired by the National Park Service to more accurately assess environmental factors that influence native mussel distribution. The collaborative effort was funded by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) Environment...

Campsite impacts on small mammals of the Colorado River, Canyonlands National Park, Utah

Small mammal populations were live-trapped at two campsites and two control areas along the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park, Utah, to determine the effects of camping impact on small mammal numbers. Data were collected from August 20 to September 10, 1976, and from April 11 to September 10, 1977. Captures of the canyon mouse (Peromyscus crinitis), least chipmunk (Eutamias minimus), antelope ground squirrel (Ammospermophilus leucurus), white-throated wood rat (Neotoma albigula) and rock squirrel (Spermophilus variegatus) populations were numerous enough to permit statistical comparison. At the Brown Betty campsite, small mammal populations, with the exception of rock squirrels, increased with campsite...
