This polygon feature class represents vegetation communities mapped at Hovenweep National Monument. The polygons were generated using guidelines set by the USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program (http://www.usgs.gov/core_science_systems/csas/vip/standards.html). Original vegetation map unit lines were drawn on mylar overlays of the project photography, then scanned to generate the linework. Due to the "snapshot" nature of the aerial photography, this vegetation layer largely reflects conditions that existed when the imagery was collected (August 1996).

Solar Energy Zones (SEZ) & BLM Variance Areas, as defined by the Solar Energy Development Programmatic EIS (PEIS). These data were downloaded from the Solar Energy Development PEIS Website on 11/25/2013 and clipped to the DRECP study area. Source: http://solareis.anl.gov/documents/dpeis/maps/shape/Draft_Solar_PEIS_Core_Shapefile_data.zipSummary of included datasets:1) Solar Energy Zone (SEZ)This dataset approximates areas available for utility-grade solar energy development under the Solar Energy Zone Alternative of the Solar Energy Development Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS). Refer to the Solar Energy Development PEIS for more details.2) BLM Variance AreasTo accommodate the flexibility described...

High-resolution geophysical mapping of Lake Powell in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Utah and Arizona was conducted between October 8 and November 15, 2017, as part of a collaborative effort between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Bureau of Reclamation to provide high-quality data needed to reassess the area-capacity tables for the Lake Powell reservoir. Seismic data collected during this survey can help to define the rates of deposition within the San Juan and Colorado Rivers, which are the main inflows to Lake Powell. These new data are intended to improve water budget management decisions that affect the natural and recreational resources of the reservoir. Multibeam echosounder bathymetry and...

This polygon feature class represents vegetation communities mapped at Pipe Spring National Monument. The polygons were delineated using guidelines set by the USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program (http://www.usgs.gov/core_science_systems/csas/vip/standards.html). The vegetation map unit lines were drawn onscreen using the digital orthophotos available of the project area (collected May of 2006). The line work was cleaned, polygons created then attributed. As with any digital layer, this layer is a representation of what is actually occurring on the ground; errors are inherent in any interpretation of ground qualities. Due to the "snapshot" nature of the aerial photography, this vegetation layer largely reflects conditions...

These data were compiled for an assessment of rangeland ecosystem conditions of the Grand Canyon - Parashant National Monument. The approximately one-million-acre Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument (PARA) is located in the northwest corner of Arizona and co-managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and National Park Service (NPS). This report is focused on the ca. 200,000 acres of NPS administered lands—one of the largest NPS units where livestock grazing is a permitted land-use activity. Many ecosystems in PARA are characterized by a low degree of resilience to improper grazing due to low and variable precipitation. PARA is marked by an extremely high degree of environmental heterogeneity, including...

This "Surface Management Agency" data layer portrays tracts of federal land for the United States and classifies these holdings by administrative agency. Multiple federal agencies have contributed to the contents of this layer and it is in a continuous state of update. Source and date of feature updates are tracked to the feature level.

This data release consists of a time series of digitized glacier margins for the 37 named glaciers of Glacier National Park (GNP) and two glaciers on U.S. Forest Service’s Flathead National Forest land. The polygons represent the main body portion of each glacier as analyzed from aerial imagery from the years 1966, 1998, 2005 and 2015. Disconnected patches are not included as this dataset represents only the main body features of the named glaciers in GNP and environs. File attributes list specific source imagery.

The National Park Service (NPS) requests burn severity assessments through an agreement with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to be completed by analysts with the Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity (MTBS) Program. The MTBS Program assesses the frequency, extent, and magnitude (size and severity) of all large wildland fires (wildfires and prescribed fires) in the conterminous United States (CONUS), Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico for the period 1984 and beyond. All fires reported as greater than 1,000 acres in the western U.S. and greater than 500 acres in the eastern U.S. are mapped across all ownerships. MTBS produces a series of geospatial and tabular data for analysis at a range of spatial, temporal, and thematic...

This polygon feature class represents vegetation communities mapped at Timpanogos Cave National Monument. The polygons were generated using guidelines set by the Standardized National Vegetation Classification System (October 1995). Vegetation polygons were drawn on-screen using the aerial 2006 photography. Traditional image interpretation cues were used to develop the polygons, such as shape, size, pattern, tone, texture, color, and shadow. Additional data layers were used in aiding the interpretation, such as slope, hydrology, geography, and ground-collected vegetation information. As with any digital layer, this layer is a representation of what is actually occurring on the ground at the time the imagery was...

This polygon feature class represents vegetation communities mapped at Curecanti National Recreation Area. The polygons were generated using guidelines set by the Standardized National Vegetation Classification System (October 1995). Original lines were drawn on mylar overlays using the DOQs collected in June of 2002. Hard copy 9x9 photography was used for photo interpretation. Traditional image interpretation cues were used to develop the polygons, such as shape, size, pattern, tone, texture, color, and shadow. Additional data layers were used in aiding the interpretation, such as slope, hydrology, geography, and ground-collected vegetation information. The attributed vegetation classes were subjected to an accuracy...

This map layer consists of federally owned or administered lands of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. For the most part, only areas of 320 acres or more are included; some smaller areas deemed to be important or significant are also included. There may be private inholdings within the boundaries of Federal lands in this map layer. Some established Federal lands which are larger than 320 acres are not included in this map layer, because their boundaries were not available from the owning or administering agency.

This service is a subset of the Surface Management Agency (SMA) Geographic Information System (GIS) dataset. The service depicts the SMA land for the United States not including Private or Unknown lands. The Cached service is available to the ArcGIS.com tiling scheme level 14 (~1:36K). The SMA feature class currently covers all of the BLM Western State Offices including Alaska. The SMA data contained in this dataset are extracted from Federal land status records. The official Federal land status records of the appropriate surface land managing agency should be consulted concerning ownership details including interest in the federal subsurface mineral estate. The GIS data contained in this dataset depict the surface...
