High-resolution multichannel seismic-reflection data acquired in thenorthern Gulf of Mexico, 1998-99
This report consists of two-dimensional marine seismic reflection profile datafrom the northern Gulf of Mexico. These data were acquired in 1998 and 1999with the Research Vessels Tommy Munro (M1-98-GM) and Gyre (G1-99-GM). The data are availablein binary and GIF image formats. Binary data are in Society of ExplorationGeologists (SEG) SEG-Y format and may be downloaded for further processing ordisplay. Reference maps and GIF images of the profiles may be viewed with yourWeb browser.
This data release contains Rock-Eval pyrolysis, organic petrographic (reflectance), and X-ray diffraction mineralogy data for subsurface Mesozoic rock samples from the eastern onshore Gulf Coast Basin (primarily Mississippi and Louisiana). Samples were analyzed in support of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) assessment of undiscovered petroleum resources in the Upper Cretaceous Tuscaloosa marine shale and evaluation of shale gas prospectivity in the Aptian section of the Mississippi Salt Basin.
