Nine native taxa including Carex oligosperma, C. pauciflora, C. pellita, Chimaphila umbellata ssp. occidentalis, Draba densifolia, x Elyleymus hirtiflorus, Eriophorum vaginatum ssp. spissum, Impatiens ? capensis, and Rhus radicans are reported new to the known flora of the Yukon Territory. Eight introduced taxa are also reported as new to the known flora. Significant range extensions within the Territory are reported for 180 native and 17 introduced taxa. Comments are presented on three native taxa and two native taxa are deleted from the Territory.

Climate change is predicted to increase rates of fire activity in boreal forests. A shortened fire return interval may result in different outcomes of community structure in the northern boreal forest, since the age of a forest influences seed production and potential post-fire regeneration. With two closely timed fires, dominant boreal conifers such as black spruce (Picea mariana) may be vulnerable to regeneration failures after fire because of the long time required to reach reproductive maturity. I report on the relationship between stand age and seed productivity of black spruce in northern Yukon Territory and central Alaska. I used fire history maps to select sites of various stand ages, including stand ages...

We present a substantially revised and updated bryophyte flora for the 2.4 million ha Denali National Park and Preserve (DNPP) based on wide-ranging field investigations conducted over the period 2001–2011. We visited 39 inventory sites and 45 vegetation monitoring study areas within DNPP, increasing the number of bryophyte taxa previously known by 147. 499 taxa are reported in this updated flora (380 moss taxa in 134 genera and 119 liverwort taxa in 43 genera). We provide geographic and ecological summaries through annotations and distribution maps for 24 of the most noteworthy finds, as well as comments on patterns of bryophyte community composition and dominance in this large and previously poorly-studied region.

In FY2011 the Arctic Inventory and Monitoring Network (ARCN) completed a draft monitoring protocol for the vegetation and soils vital sign, and began implementation of the protocol by sampling 103 plots at 5 “nodes” (sampling localities with clusters of plots). This brings the total number of nodes sampled to date to 8, out of approximately 25 anticipated.
