Comma-separated values (.csv) file containing data related to mercury concentrations in dragonfly samples from U.S. National Parks collected as part of the Dragonfly Mercury Project (DMP). This data release supersedes Eagles-Smith, C.A., Nelson, S.J., Flanagan-Pritz, C.M., Willacker Jr., J.J., and Klemmer, A.J., 2018, Total mercury concentrations in dragonfly larvae from U.S. national parks (ver. 8.0, December 2022): U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P9TK6NPT. This report details the inventory of mammals in Lake Clark National Park and Preserve (LACL) between 7 and 31 July 2003 as part of a cooperative effort of the Beringian Coevolution Project at the Museum of Southwestern Biology, University of New Mexico and the Inventory and Monitoring Program of the National Park Service of Alaska. We begin the process of documenting the approximately 36 species of mammals that occur in the Park, with a primary focus on small mammals (i.e., shrews, voles, lemmings, weasels, porcupine, squirrels, and hares). This survey resulted in 856 primary specimens comprising 17 species. Across all localities sampled, two shrews (Sorex cinereus, S. monticolus) and a murid rodent (Clethrionomys...
The U.S. Geological Survey and the National Park Service conducted a water-quality investigation of the Crescent River Basin in Lake Clark National Park and Preserve from May 2003 through September 2004. The Crescent River Basin was studied because it has a productive sockeye salmon run that is important to the Cook Inlet commercial fishing industry. Water-quality, biology, and limnology characteristics were assessed. Glacier-fed streams that flow into Crescent Lake transport suspended sediment that is trapped by the lake. Suspended sediment concentrations from the Lake Fork Crescent River (the outlet stream of Crescent Lake) were less than 10 milligrams per liter, indicating a high trapping efficiency of Crescent...

The University of Alaska Anchorage, Alaska Natural Heritage Program agreed to conduct a vascular plant survey of the proposed UNAVCO Plate Boundary Observatory GPS monument site at Slope Mountain in Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. The need for a plant survey was precipitated by the discovery of a number of rare plants found on surrounding peaks during vascular plant inventories in 2003 and 2005 (see Carlson et al. 2005 for details). The survey of the UNAVCO site on the northeast peak of Slope Mountain did not reveal any imperiled or critically imperiled vascular plant species. Here, I briefly outline the background of the project and rare plant concerns in the area, location and habitat of the site, survey...

Exotic plant survey polygon data representing infested or non-infested areas including inventory, treatment, and monitoring efforts. Polygons generated from point and line features using a buffer distance entered in the field or data was collected as a polygon for large or irregular sized patches. Data collected by field personnel using mapping grade GPS and a statewide data collection protocol. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: see supplemental section on how to use this GeoDatabase.
