This collection contains unpublished hand drawn geologic maps, field maps, traverse maps, sample location maps, and cross sections of Traveler Mountain and vicinity, central Maine. The maps were created by Douglas W. Rankin between 1955 and 1961 (date is indicated if known) and scanned in 2016. Most maps use a 7.5-minute topographic quadrangle as a base. Some compiled maps of larger areas are a composite of several 7.5-minute quadrangle maps and latitude and longitude values are indicated on the map. Please contact the Eastern Geology and Paleoclimate Science Center for additional information and access to original copies.
Radioactive mineral deposit locations were compiled on maps and lists, as well as production data/deposit summaries, in the CGS report: Nelson-Moore, J.L., Collins, D.B., and Hornbaker, A.L., 1978, Radioactive Mineral Occurrences of Colorado, Colorado Geological Survey Bulletin 40, 1,054 p. This comprehensive report contains 12 map plates that record the location of radioactive minerals, including past mined deposits, throughout Colorado. Also, the report contains compilations of production (if available), deposit type, mineral, and other data associated with each location. Most of the records are associated with uranium/vanadium deposits but also include deposits containing REEs and other minerals.
A collection of approximately 100,000 handwritten and typewritten scout tickets from Oklahoma sorted by section-township-range, as well as a small percentage of scout tickets from nearby states.

Digital files of basement structure in Colorado, including structure contours on top of Precambrian basement rock, selected wells drilled to Precambrian and Lower Paleozoic rocks, sedimentary basins, major oil and gas fields, Precambrian and Upper Cretaceous to Tertiary volcanic and intrusive rock outcrops. Major sedimentary basins and arches, as well as Precambrian mountain ranges and volcanic fields are included. Also included are 73 gas fields and 129 oil fields.
Collection includes cores extracted over decades by mineral exploration firms as they completed their Maine work or otherwise released their data, covering both public and private lands that were the subject of mineral exploration. These records represent the best public collection of the major mineral exploration efforts of the 1960s-1980s. This collection of 595 scanned core records is accessible through a Google Earth application. Please contact the Maine Geological Survey to discuss access to the collection.
Geophysical log collection from test holes and water wells in Mississippi. The collection spans from 1940-present and is an extensive representation of drilling and logging in Mississippi. This collection is for use in research and planning for communities, government, environmental professional, industry and academia.

This collection includes field notes, interpretive geologic field maps, field station location maps, and other project materials, many of which are unpublished and archived by the Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys. These materials have not been reviewed for accuracy, consistency, or completeness. The collection may contain data and documents pertaining to all related fields of geology, including oil and gas, geologic engineering, minerals industry, scientific data, and agency archives.

This collection currently contains approximately 24,000 oil- and gas- related surface samples, which is a subset of the 507,000 surface samples housed at the Alaska Geologic Materials Center. The Amoco Heritage Collection was donated by Amoco-BP in 2002 and contains samples from fieldwork conducted from 1960-1990 in high energy-resource-potential areas of Alaska.
Historically, the Legacy Core and Cuttings Collection (LCCC) is the principal compilation of NCGS?s borehole records. This is an electronic compilation of pre-1988, onshore holdings that documents core, cuttings and well logs for 875 borehole records. Hoffman and Nickerson (1988) provide an explanation of how this data was compiled and organized into an early database that was eventually migrated by J.G. Nickerson to an ARCGIS geodatabase. The database?s 875 borehole records are categorized as: 1) WELLDATA, 2) OILTEST, 3) TRIASSIC, and HARDROCK. WELLDATA includes borehole records for domestic, municipal, and industrial water wells; mineral exploration core holes and stratigraphic tests. OILTEST includes records...

Dataset contains digital versions of physical core logs housed in Missouri Geological Survey archives. The logs are variable in detail, ranging from simple locations and formation tops to extensive stratigraphic descriptions and chemistry. A portion were done by MGS staff; others were donated by industry, academia, and government entities. The dataset includes logs for mines or undeveloped deposits with occurrences of or potential for critical minerals, along with logs in areas with permissive geology. The dataset comprises three tables: header and location information; formation/stratigraphic top, bottom and written description; and geochemical and assay data.

This folder contains unpublished and georeferenced hand drawn geologic maps of five 7.5-minute quadrangles: Grayson, Konnarock, Whitetop Mountain, Park, and Troutdale. Geology was mapped by Douglas W. Rankin from 1962-1969 and compiled thereafter. The maps were scanned in 2016. Data from these maps were compiled in ArcGIS and incorporated into an in progress geologic map of the Mount Rogers area, VA-NC-TN. Please contact the Eastern Geology and Paleoclimate Science Center for additional information and access to original copies.
A collection of approximately 15,000 analog paper mud logs exhibiting gas detection and lithology from Oklahoma (~90%) as well as other states in the mid-continent such as Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado (~10% combined out of state materials) sorted by section-township-range, distributed throughout twenty five filing cabinets.

The New Jersey Zinc Company Historical Collection contains details of mining operations at the Austinville-Ivanhoe underground lead-zinc mines located in Wythe County in southwestern Virginia from 1902 to 1981. This site also operated under the name Bertha Mineral Company. The records pertain mainly to the historic Austinville-Ivanhoe underground lead-zinc mines located in Wythe County. The site produced zinc and lead from underground mines in the historic Austinville-Ivanhoe mineral district located in Wythe County. During this nearly 80-year span of continuous mine operations near Austinville, the company also conducted base metals exploration in other regions of Virginia, including the Timberville lead-zinc...
The ISGS Manuscripts Collection consists of unpublished papers and documents generally written by survey staff. Includes theses or other manuscripts of potential interest to survey staff.
Powder or chips from analyzed rock samples.
The Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) Sample Collection Database (also known as CORECUT) is the index of rock samples held by the NBMG. The database contains about 12,000 entries of which over 11,000 entries have locations in longitude and latitude (the on-line database includes only these). Access is through the NBMG main website at http://www.nbmg.unr.edu, followed by clicking on 1). "Collections", and 2). "Geologic Specimen and Geochemical Database". In 2019, NBMG began a project to photograph and scan thin sections under standard and cross polarized light. When applicable, these are now noted in the metadata records. All of the cores and cuttings are now also available in a new map web application http://nbmg.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=2b2fc33d346...

This collection includes well cuttings extracted during drilling operations and are stored at the KGS Kansas Geologic Sample Repository in Wichita, KS. This collection represents the entire cuttings database as of August 2020, and supersedes other collections.
The North Carolina Geological Survey (NCGS) was awarded a succession of STATEMAP Grants to map Coastal Plain deposits in the vicinity of the Surry Paleoshoreline complex. This area includes Fountain, Falkland, Farmville and Walstonburg quadrangles, and portions of Pitt, Greene, Wilson and Edgecombe counties. The Surry paleoshoreline is along-strike from Trail Ridge. NCGS maps from the known to the unknown; hence the area for detailed mapping was chosen because a significant amount of high-quality subsurface data already existed in the same area because of the EPA 319h Grants awarded to NCGS. NCGS has a small drill rig called a Geoprobe, that it uses to collect continuous core samples through Pliocene and Pleistocene...
