This metadata record describes 24 tabular data sets that estimate the percent of agricultural land that may be subject to select conservation practices for each year during the period 2000-2012 compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2.1 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. Reach catchment information characterizes data at the local scale. Reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network characterizes cumulative upstream conditions. Network-accumulated values are...

This metadata record describes 26 30-meter raster data sets that estimate the percent of agricultural land that may be subject to select conservation practices for each year during the period 2000-2012. The data were derived from U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) National Resource Inventory (NRI). One set of rasters (denoted by the ICP prefix) represents an estimate of the percent of agricultural land potentially subject to Alley Cropping, Contour Buffer Strips, Contour Farming, Contour Orchard/Other Fruit Area, Cross Wind Trap Strips, Field Border, Filter Strip, Grassed Waterway, Hedgerow Planting, Herbaceous Wind Barriers, Irrigation System, Tailwater Recovery,...
Herbaceous riparian buffers (CP 21 grass filter strips) are a widely used agricultural conservation practice in the United States for reducing nutrient, pesticide, and sediment loadings to agricultural streams. The ecological impacts of herbaceous riparian buffers on the channelized agricultural headwater streams that are common throughout the midwestern United States have not been evaluated. We sampled riparian habitat, geomorphology, instream habitat, water chemistry, fishes, and amphibians for 4 years from three channelized agricultural headwater streams without herbaceous riparian buffers and three channelized streams with herbaceous riparian buffers in central Ohio. Only seven of 55 response variables exhibited...

This dataset contains 28 30-meter raster data sets that estimate the percent of agricultural land that may practice select conservation practices for the period 1997-2012. The data were derived from U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) National Resource Inventory (NRI) and represent annual periods with the exception of 1998 and 1999, which are absent. One set of rasters represents an estimate of the percent of agricultural land subject to Alley Cropping, Contour Buffer Strips, Contour Farming, Contour Orchard/Other Fruit Area, Cross Wind Trap Strips, Field Border, Filter Strip, Grassed Waterway, Hedgerow Planting, Herbaceous Wind Barriers, Irrigation System, Tailwater...
