A public use microdata area (PUMA) is an area with a decennial census population of 100,000 or more people for which the U.S. Census Bureau provides specially selected extracts of raw data from a small sample of long-form census records screened to protect confidentiality. These extracts are referred to as "public use microdata sample (PUMS)" files. Data users can use these files to create their own statistical tabulations and data summaries. Multi-season satellite imagery (Landsat ETM+) from 1999-2001 were used in conjunction with digital elevation model (DEM) derived datasets (e.g. elevation, landform, aspect, etc.) to model natural and semi-natural vegetation. The minimum mapping unit for this dataset is approximately 1 hectare. Landcover classes are drawn from NatureServe's Ecological System concept. For the majority of classes, a decision tree classifier was used to discriminate landcover types, while a minority of classes (e.g. urban classes, burn scars, etc.) were mapped using other techniques..

The LANDFIRE fuel data describe the composition and characteristics of both surface fuel and canopy fuel. Specific products include fire behavior fuel models, canopy bulk density (CBD), canopy base height (CBH), canopy cover (CC), canopy height (CH), and fuel loading models (FLMs). These data may be implemented within models to predict the behavior and effects of wildland fire. This roads dataset for Wyoming has been extracted from the U.S. Census TIGER/Line shapefiles (http://www.census.gov/geo/www/tiger) and is avialable here as a statewide dataset. Data for each county was merged to create the statewide dataset. Road data was then extracted from the 'edges' (attribute: roadflg, 'Y') line data by WyGISC. Attributes deemed unecessary were removed by WyGISC. For the original data, visit the tiger data website listed above.
