A DRG is a raster image of a published map. DRG's are made by scanning published paper maps on high-resolution scanners. The raster image is georeferenced and fit to the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection, and NAD 1927 Datum. Colors are standardized to remove scanner limitations and artifacts. The average data set size is about 8 megabytes in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) with PackBits compression. DRG's can be easily combined with other digital cartographic products such as digital elevation models (DEM) and digital orthophoto quadrangles (DOQ). DRGs are available for Wyoming at 1:24,000, 1:100,000, and 1:250,000.

A traffic analysis zone (TAZ) is a special area delineated by state and/or local transportation officials for tabulating traffic-related data, especially journey-to-work and place-of-work statistics. A TAZ usually consists of one or more census blocks, block groups, or census tracts. For the 1990 census, TAZs were defined as part of the Census Transportation Planning Package (CTPP). Each TAZ is identified by a six-character alphanumeric code that is unique within county or statistically equivalent entity.

This data set is digital grazing allotments for the Casper Field Office. The information was prepared by digitizing the grazing allotment boundaries for the 4 counties-Natrona, Converse, Platte and Goshen. The pasture boundaries were digitized for the area within Natrona county. The data in Natrona county was digitized by the Wyoming State Office using data from mylars prepared by the field office and using 7.5 minute USGS Quadrangle maps as a base. The other 3 counties were digitized on screen using the USGS Quandrangle maps and the ownership maps as a backdrop. The data was completed by county and then merged into one coverage.

This GIS coverage displays range allotment permit boundaries, which are also analysis areas used for analysis of the 1986 Forest Plan. Many of these allotments are not being grazed by livestock at this time. This dataset does not include interior pasture fences or improvements.

This GIS coverage displays all five districts of the Shoshone National Forest. The five districts making up the Shoshone National Forest are Clarks Fork, Greybull, Wapiti, Wind River and Washakie. Each District is managed by a district ranger and staff of resource specialists.

Voting district (VTD) is the generic name for geographic entities, such as precincts, wards, and election districts, established by state, local, and tribal governments for the purpose of conducting elections. States participating in the Census 2000 Redistricting Data Program as part of Public Law 94-171 (1975) may provide boundaries, codes, and names for their VTDs to the U.S. Census Bureau. For Census 2000, each VTD is identified by a one- to six-character alphanumeric census code that is unique within county. The code "ZZZZZZ" identifies parts of a county in which no VTDs were identified.

No Surface Occupancy (NSO) is designated by the BLM to prevent surface disturbing activities from occurring in specific areas. The reasons may include but are not limited to wilderness areas, cultural artifacts or sensitive areas for wildlife. No surface disturbance of any kind is allowed.

This file contains one of many raster grids of the Elevation Derivatives for National Applications (EDNA), a multi-layered database that provides systematic and consistent topographically-derived hydrologic derivatives. The filled DEM grid was created from the original elevation data by filling all of the depressions, or sinks, in the original DEM. To create this grid, an algorithm was used to loacted and fill all depressions or sinks where there was no flow from pixel to pixel. During this process, efforts were made to maintain natural sink features.

The data was produced from digitizing the legal land discriptions from the individual allotment folders at the Newcastle BLM field office. The data that was used to digitize from was the 1:100,000 ownership files and the 40 acre tic GCDB Gis data from the Wyoming State BLM office. This data is only as accurate as the ownership and GCDB data used. This data is intended for use by the BLM for management and navigational purposes.

These data display national forest and ranger district boundaries for Region 1, 2 and 4. Note that many private and state-owned parcels lie within the national forest boundaries depicted in these data. Note that these data do not conform entirely with official national forest boundaries: (1) the boundaries included here have been expanded to encompass national forest system lands that lie outside of the official forest boundary and (2) many small and discrete polygons that have no national forest ownership but were (and are) included in the officially designated forest boundary are not included in these data. To obtain actual boundaries use most accurate land management data layer.

Mineral resource occurrence data covering the world, most thoroughlywithin the U.S, though this dataset has been cliped from it's original extent to the extent of the state of Wyoming. This database contains the records previously provided in the Mineral Resource Data System (MRDS) of USGS and the Mineral Availability System/Mineral Industry Locator System (MAS/MILS) originated in the U.S. Bureau of Mines, which is now part of USGS. The MRDS is a large and complex relational database developed over several decades by hundreds of researchers and reporters. This product is a digest in which the fields chosen are those most likely to contain valid information.
