These data were compiled to create models that estimate entrainment rates and population growth rates of smallmouth bass below Glen Canyon Dam. Objective(s) of our study were to predict smallmouth bass entrainment rates and population growth under different future scenarios of Lake Powell elevations and management. These data represent parameters needed for associated models and data needed to produce figures. These data were collected from publicly available online sources including published papers and federal government datasets. These data were assembled by researchers from U.S. Geological Survey, Utah State University, Colorado State University, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. These data can be used to run...
This dataset includes the following measurements made over a xeric tall grass prairie in the southwest portion of Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge in 2011 and 2012: 1) half hourly eddy covariance measurements of latent heat flux (evapotranspiration) and fluxes of carbon dioxide and sensible heat, and friction velocity (U star) 2) half hour averages of solar and net radiation; photosynthetically active radiation; air temperature and humidity; soil temperature, moisture, and heat flux; wind speed and direction; and half hour sums of precipitation. 3) approximately weekly measurements of vegetation including leaf area index, height of vegetation, dry and wet weights
File AET2RET_Ratios.csv lists the AET to RET (actual to reference evapotranspiration) ratios, or AET/RET, used to calculate actual evapotranspiration for each land cover type. The daily measured AET data collected at the ET stations were used to calculate the monthly totals for each month of the year. These monthly AET totals were then used to calculate the average AET/RET monthly ratios for the land cover of the ET station by dividing the AET rates by the RET rates obtained from the Florida ET network (http://fl.water.usgs.gov/et/; USGS, 2016). The land cover types represented in these data are forest, grass, marsh, open water, ridge, urban, and agriculture. The AET/RET ratios for these land cover types were presented...

The actual evapotranspiration (AET) annual rates provided in shapefiles AET_SJR_Basin_Cells are for 2 km by 2 km cells in basins in east-central and northeast Florida. The AET rates are presented in the shapefiles for two methods: the Simplified Surface Energy Balance operational (SSEBop) method and for the land-cover type (LC) method. The period of record is 2000 to 2016 for the LC-based method and from 2000 to 2017 for the SSEBop-based method. The SSEBop AET rates are based on a work by Senay and others (2013). The LC-based AET rates were calculated from the AET/RET ratios listed in file AET2RET_Ratios.csv and the annual reference ET rates from 2000 to 2016. A third method used to calculate annual average AET...

Annual actual evapotranspiration (ETa) rates in 55 basins in Florida and parts of Alabama and Georgia were evaluated for 2000-17 using the Operational Simplified Surface Energy Balance (SSEBop) model at about a one-square kilometer resolution (Sepúlveda, 2021). SSEBop ETa rates were bias corrected using ETa rates computed from weather observations at 24 micrometeorological evapotranspiration flux (MEF) stations (mETa), stratified by land-use type. Uncorrected and bias-corrected SSEBop ETa rates were evaluated by comparison with independent estimates based on a crop-coefficient method for generalized land-use types (luETa) and a water-balance method for each basin (wbETa). This metadata file summarizes a GIS shapefile...

The Imiq Hydroclimate Database houses hydrologic, climatologic, and soils data collected in Alaska and Western Canada from the early 1900s to the present. This database unifies and preserves numerous data collections that have, until now, been stored in field notebooks, on desktop computers, as well as in disparate databases. Synthesizing and analyzing the large-scale hydroclimate characteristics of this important climatic region have been made easier with this searchable database. The data, originally collected in a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 relational database, has been migrated to an open source PostgreSQL and PostGIS environment. The Imiq Data Portal provides public access to portions of the Imiq Hydroclimate...

This is accompanying data produced for the study "Implications of Model Selection: Inter-Comparison of Publicly-Available, CONUS-Extent Hydrologic Component Estimates". These datasets were converted from their primary structures (rasters and shapefiles) to EPA Ecoregions Level I. Conversion was performed by averaging timestep layers via mean area weight to produce a single vector of monthly values for each ecoregion, for each of the following hydrologic cycle components: precipitation (P), actual evapotranspiration (AET), runoff (R), snow water equivalent (SWE), rootzone soil moisture in equivalent water depth (RZSME), and rootzone soil moisture in volumetric water content (RZSMV).

Pan evaporation is a measure of atmospheric evaporative demand (E0) for which long term and spatially distributed observations are available from the NOAA Cooperative Observer (COOP) Network. However, this data requires extensive quality control and homogenization due to documented and undocumented station moves and other factors including human errors in recording or digitization. Station-based Pan Evaporation measurements (in mm) from 247 stations across the continental United States were compiled and quality controlled for the analysis shown in Dewes et al., 2017. This dataset reports warm season (May-October; for 21 stations the data is only available for May-September) pan evaporation with at least 20 years...

The groundwater discharge area (GDA) in Tule and part of Sevier valley represents the area where discharge from evaporation by open water or bare soil and transpiration from phreatophytic plants exceeds the volume of water contributed by precipitation. The GDA was delineated during field reconnaissance of the study area using techniques similar to those used in previous studies throughout Nevada and eastern Utah.

Daily measurements of evaporation using the Bowen ratio method were made at USGS station name LZ40 (USGS site number 265405080472100), a platform-based station constructed by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) at the approximate center of Lake Okeechobee, Florida. Data collection began on November 15, 2012. Meteorological and environmental variables were measured every 30 seconds and averaged at 30-minute resolution until February 7, 2013 and 15-minute resolution thereafter to December 31, 2019, including: precipitation, air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, incoming/outgoing solar radiation, and water temperature at various depths.
This data release provides rasters of actual evapotranspiration (ET) at the Conterminous U.S. (CONUS) scale from October 1895 to September 2018. Data are provided at the annual and monthly time scales at 800 meter spatial resolution. The dataset was produced using ensemble estimation methods described in the associated journal article. The data release also includes associated datasets developed in the production of these ET estimates, including monthly maps of groundwater and surface water irrigation from 1980-2018, as well as data underlying the figures in the associated paper.

We apply a monthly water-balance model (MWBM) to simulate components of the water balance for the period 1950-2099 under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 for the Contiguous United States. We use the statistically downscaled MACAv2-METDATA temperature and precipitation data from 20 General Circulation Models (GCMs) from the Climate Model Intercomparison Program Phase 5 (CMIP5) as input to the water balance model. This dataset supports the USGS National Climate Change Viewer. The statistically downscaled dataset is: MACAv2-METDATA: Multivariate Adaptive Constructed Analogs (Abatzoglou & Brown, 2012, bias corrected by METDATA, Abatzoglou, 2013) Users interested in the downscaled temperature and precipitation files are referred to...

The mean MSAVI image is based on two Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) scenes representing midsummer conditions in 2007 and 2008. MSAVI was calculated for each image which were then combined by calculating the mean for each pixel in the scenes. The resultant MSAVI image was used to estimate vegetation assemblages (ET units) within a mapped groundwater discharge area.
