This dataset identifies lead (Pb) concentration found in the blood of waterfowl sampled in western and northern Alaska and eastern Russia between 1993 and 2022. Data include age, sex, body measurement, capture location, presence or absence of lead shot on x-rays, and blood lead levels. Because the study took place over a number of years at the same study sites, many of the same birds were sampled in multiple years.
These data were compiled to demonstrate new predictive mapping approaches and provide comprehensive gridded 30-meter resolution soil property maps for the Colorado River Basin above Hoover Dam. Random forest models related environmental raster layers representing soil forming factors with field samples to render predictive maps that interpolate between sample locations. This map service contains summaries of habitat condition indices (HCI scores) from the National Fish Habitat Action Plan (NFHAP) 2010 National Assessments for 8 digit Hydrological Unit Codes (HUC8s) of the United States. Initial HCI scores were developed in three separate assessments (Conterminous U.S., Hawaii, and Alaska) due to differences in data availability across these regions. In the initial NFHAP 2010 Alaska assessment HCI values were attributed to HUC12s.
