Our mission is to develop and maintain a cost-effective, central information source and inventory of the locations, biology, and status of all threatened, endangered, rare, and at-risk plants and animals in Nevada. We use the best available biological data to continually evaluate conservation priorities for over 700 native animals, plants, and vegetation types, focusing on those that are at greatest risk of extinction or serious decline. As a non-regulatory, independent resource for scientifically objective data, environmental review, and technical assistance and expertise, we support the needs of diverse planning, conservation management, research, education, and economic development activities in Nevada. The...

SUMMARY This publication is intended to provide a framework for tri- and binational cooperation between Canada, the United States and Mexico that promotes the conservation and sustainable use of central North American grasslands. It does so by providing a trinational overview of information about the central North American grasslands and the conservation issues faced in the region. This contextual framework seeks to move the conservation agenda forward to the eventual development of a conservation strategy for the grasslands of North America that will integrate, build upon and enhance individual initiatives found in the three countries of North America that could complement each other. RESUMEN El propósito de...

This feature class includes monitoring data collected nationally to understand the status, condition, and trend of resources on BLM lands. Data are collected in accordance with the Interpreting Indicators for Rangeland Health (IIRH) method. The IIRH method is a qualitative assessment of rangeland health, defined as "the degree to which the integrity of the soil, vegetation, water, and air, as well as the ecological processes of the rangeland ecosystem are balanced and sustained." Attributes include the final rating for IIRH indicators: hydrologic function, biotic integrity, and soil/site stability (see Entity/Attribute Section for exact details on attributes). Data were collected and managed by BLM Field Offices,...
The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species contains assessments for just over 76,000 species, of which about two-thirds have spatial data. This spatial data provided below is for comprehensively assessed taxonomic groups. It is important to note that some species such as those listed as Data Deficient are not mapped and subspecies are mapped within the parental species. The data is available as ESRI shapefiles format and contains the known range of each species. Ranges are depicted as polygons, except for the freshwater HydroSHED tables. The shapefiles contain taxonomic information, distribution status, IUCN Red List category, sources and other details about the maps (see metadata document). Please note that the files...

Natureserve data was provided in a Microsoft Access database format. Using ArcCatalog an ODC database connection was established to the supplied database, the tabular data was exported into a File Geodatabase format, and then saved in the following location:T:\OC\Wildlife\Confidential\Projects\NS_HUC10_Project\Data\GDB\All_Species_Table_HUC_10.gdb\HUC_10_All_SpeciesHUC 10 watershed boundaries were identified for the area of interest (AOI) and relevant polygons were extracted from the parent source data file. Source data files are updated as necessary and stored in the following location:T:\OC\Wildlife\Data\inlandWatersA relate between the tabular Natureserve data and the extracted HUC 10 polygons, based on the HUC...
Funded by Arizona Game & Fish Department, our team of conservation biologists and GIS Analysts at Northern Arizona University are creating detailed linkage designs for 16 priority areas highlighted in the Wildlife Linkages Assesment. These plans identify and map multi-species corridors that will best maintain wildlife movement between wildland blocks, as well as highlight specific planning and road mitigation measures required to maintain connectivity in these corridors. Note: The linkage design reports are in compressed PDF format for faster download. Unfortunately, the compression occasionally makes small text on maps within the report difficult to read. If you would like a high-resolution PDF or PNG copy of any...

Multi-species recovery planning can be a challenging natural resource management task. In collaboration with state and federal agencies, and botanical and technical experts, we developed and tested a multi-step optimization process to assist in identifying the minimum climate resilient habitat for the recovery of multiple threatened, endangered, and at-risk plant species across east Maui. The list of plant species used during this project, and number of planning units required to recover each species, are included.
This feature class includes monitoring data collected nationally to understand the status, condition, and trend of resources on BLM lands. Data are collected in accordance with the BLM Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring (AIM) Strategy. The AIM Strategy specifies a probabilistic sampling design, standard core indicators and methods, electronic data capture and management, and integration with remote sensing. Attributes include indicator summaries (all first hit percentages) needed for remote sensing purposes (see Entity/Attribute Section for exact details on attributes). Data were collected and managed by BLM Field Offices, BLM Districts, and/or affiliated field crews with support from the BLM National Operations...
This polygon feature class shows the spatial extent and boundaries of Areas of Critical Environmental Concern that have become officially designated by the BLM. These polygon features were previously in a pre-designated status (i.e. being considered as areas to be eventually designated as official ACEC designated polygonst). Once these polygon feature left the Pre-Designated phase (transitioned from a Considered to Designated status), they were removed from the ACEC Pre-designated polygon feature class and placed in this ACEC Designated polygon feature class. This dataset is a subset of the official national dataset, containing features and attributes intended for public release and has been optimized for online...

The Arizona Game and Fish Department (Department) recently revised its State Wildlife Action Plan that provides a framework and information to assist in setting conservation priorities for the state’s wildlife and habitats. Data gathered for Arizona’s State Wildlife Action Plan represents myriad sources and extensive public comment, and is used to support the Department’s efforts to develop proactive conservation goals and objectives. Much of that data (more than 300 data layers) is compiled into a single model of wildlife conservation potential, the Species and Habitat Conservation Guide. To ensure the State Wildlife Action Plan information is accessible and useful to everyone, the Arizona Game and Fish Department...

The Alabama Sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus suttkusi) has suffered from habitat loss and fragmentation caused by dredging for navigation, peaking hydropower projects, and dam construction. This species requires clean hard substrate with stable daily flows for spawning, and needs connected river reaches for long-distance spawning migrations. Both of these needs have been disrupted by human activities in their range. This fish has disappeared from about 85 percent of its historic range in the Alabama and Tombigbee River systems. The Alabama Sturgeon was placed on the endangered species list in 2000.
