The Integrated Scenarios of the Future Northwest Environment project (an FY2012 NW CSC funded project), resulted in several datasets describing projected changes in climate, hydrology and vegetation for the 21st century over the Northwestern US. The raw data is available in netCDF format, which is a standard data file format for weather forecasting/climate change/GIS applications. However, the sheer size of these datasets and the specific file format (netCDF) for data access pose significant barriers to data access for many users. This is a particular challenge for many natural/cultural resource managers and others working on conservation efforts in the Pacific Northwest. The goal of this project was to increase...

This data release contains trend results computed on the basis of modeled and observed daily streamflows at 502 reference gages across the conterminous U.S. from October 1, 1983 through September 30, 2016. Modeled daily streamflows were computed using the deterministic Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS), and five statistical techniques: Nearest-Neighbor Drainage Area Ratio (NNDAR), Map-Correlation Drainage Area Ratio (MCDAR), Ordinary Kriging of the logarithms of discharge per unit area (OKDAR), Nearest-Neighbor nonlinear spatial interpolation using flow duration curves (NNQPPQ), and Map-Correlation nonlinear spatial interpolation using flow duration curves (MCQPPQ). Observed daily streamflow data for the...
Several canals in southern Florida run from Lake Okeechobee through the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) and feed water to the northern Everglades. Agricultural and water-management practices affect the water quality of these canals. Fertilizers added in the EAA flow into the canals and are transported to treatment areas which remove much of the phosphorous in the water, but are not as effective in removing dissolved sulfate. Elevated sulfate concentrations, found downstream in the Water Conservation Areas in the northern Everglades, can stimulate sulfur-reducing bacteria which can also convert inorganic mercury to methyl mercury, a bioaccumulative neurotoxin. Chemistry data at 25 canal sites in southern Florida...

This Benthic Invertebrate Community Analysis dataset, a conceptual subgroup of the Lake Erie Ecological Investigations (LEEI) dataset, focuses on the benthic invertebrates sampled at Areas of Concern (AOCs) on Lake Erie. Per the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP), the invertebrate samples were taken from sediments remaining from the sediment analysis. Identification of the invertebrates was completed by the same invertebrate taxonomist for both the 1998-2000 evaluation and 1986-87 historical evaluation (Smith et al. 1994) for increased consistency. Oligochaetes were identified to species if possible, chironomids were identified to genus, as adult specimens are needed for specific identification, and other taxa...
This report summarizes the results of velocity measurements ofoutlet glaciers, ice streams, and ice shelves around theAntarctic periphery. For some regions, where suitable imageswere available, the same area was measured repeatedly tovalidate the data or register changes in velocity with time. The results given here are a compendium of published papersand work in progress. The results constitute a data base thatwill be added to and amended as more velocity measurementsbecome available.
Northeast (NE) Region. The U.S. Geological Survey Dakota Water Science Center, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, is analyzing annual peak-flow data to determine if trends are present and provide attribution of trends where possible. This dataset contains four core comma separated values (csv) files (50-year monotonic, 75-year monotonic, 50-year change point, and 75-change point). Each of the four core csv files includes the USGS gage identifier, various statistical values, primary and secondary attribution, level of evidence, and comments/citations. The comments/citations column should include any sources, in addition to the statistical values in the csv, that were needed to decide on the correct...

Paleohydrologic records provide a valuable perspective on the variability of streamflow and hydroclimate that is critical for water resource planning and placing present day and future conditions into a long-term context. Until now, key insights gained from streamflow reconstructions in the other river basins across the Western U.S. been lacking in the Upper Missouri River Basin due to a lack of extended streamflow records. Here we utilize a new database of naturalized streamflow records for the Upper Missouri and an expanded network of tree-ring records from the region to reconstruct streamflow at 31 gaging locations across the major Mountain Headwaters of the United States’ largest river basin. The database also...

Bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus), listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, are among the more thermally sensitive of coldwater species in North America. The Boise River upstream of Arrowrock Dam in southwestern Idaho (including Arrowrock Reservoir) provides habitat for one of the southernmost populations of bull trout. The presence of the species in Arrowrock Reservoir poses implications for dam and reservoir operations. From 2011 to 2014, the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Geological Survey collected fish telemetry data to improve understanding of bull trout distribution and movement in Arrowrock Reservoir and in the upper Boise River tributaries. The U.S. Geological Survey compiled the telemetry...
This child page contains 34 csv files, site_qw_nuts, which contain observations of nitrate plus nitrite as nitrogen (npnN), total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP) for each site . Each file includes date of observation, measured value of water-quality constituent, remark code for the measured value, and site name. Availability of observations of water-quality constituents depended upon collecting agency and varied by site and constituent. Not all sites had observations for all constituents. The format of the csv file (date format and column headings) is designed to meet the specific requirements of file format for R-QWTREND. If csv files are opened directly in excel, the format of the data can change. To ensure...
![]() This report contains all of the available daily sulfur dioxide andcarbon dioxide emission rates from Cook Inlet volcanoes asdetermined by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from March 1990through July 1994. Airborne sulfur dioxide gas sampling of theCook Inlet volcanoes (Redoubt, Spurr, Iliamna, and Augustine)began in 1986 when several measurements were carried out atAugustine volcano during the eruption of 1986. Systematic monitoringfor sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide began in March 1990 atRedoubt volcano and continues to the present. Intermittentmeasurements at Augustine and Iliamna volcanoes began in 1990 andcontinues to the present. Intermittent measurements began at Spurrvolcano in 1991, and were continued...
This data set contains daily survival rates from 81 studies of passerine obligate grassland bird species that primarily breed in the United States; patch size information was extracted when available. Temperature and precipitation variables were calculated for the study sites and years the data were collected. The studies we used collected data across the period 1978 to 2013.

This Sediment Analysis dataset, a conceptual subgroup of the Lake Erie Ecological Investigations (LEEI) dataset, focuses on the sediments sampled at Areas of Concern (AOCs) on Lake Erie. Per the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP), sediment collections were a composite of at least five randomly selected samples collected from each site. Per an internal summary report, sediment samples were collected using a stainless steel Eckman dredge. Analytical methods and QA/QC were directed by the Patuxent Analytical Control Facility (PACF) of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Per Dora Passino-Reader, the Geochemical & Environmental Research Group at Texas A&M University, College Station performed the analytical chemistry...
This dataset contains the physical collection information (e.g., sample location, date, gear type) and microsatellite DNA genotype of egg and larval Lake Sturgeon collected in the St. Clair and Detroit rivers in 2015 and 2016. Individuals were genotyped for 18 microsatellite loci (13 disomic and 5 polysomic). Alleles (base pair sizes) were recorded as presence absence scores (1:present, 2:absent, 0:missing data) for all previously observed alleles. Thus individual genotypes were recorded as pseudo diploid dominant phenotypes resulting in individual vectors of length n=205 for each genotyped egg or larval individual.
