In March 2020, the U.S. Geological Survey and the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez (UPRM) Department of Marine Sciences conducted a marine seismic-reflection experiment focused on observing geophysical evidence of submarine faulting and mass wasting related to the southwestern Puerto Rico seismic sequence of 2019–20. The seismic sequence culminated with a magnitude 6.4 earthquake centered beneath Guayanilla Canyon on January 7, 2020 and caused shoreline subsidence, rockfalls, and considerable damage to buildings. Red lionfish (Pterois volitans) have become a successful invasive predator across the Northwestern Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico (GoM). Species occurrence records of the taxonomic class of Bivalvia in oceans within 1000 kilometers of the United States shoreline. This is a subset of the OBIS-USA dataset where Bivalvia records were queried on December 2, 2014. After initial queries, the remaining data were further queried to retain only samples within 1000 kilometers of the U.S. shoreline. This is an ArcGIS shapefile which depicts the seasonal salinity dynamics of 32 Gulf of Mexico estuaries. To characterize the dynamic nature of estuarine salinity gradients, a multivariate methodology (Bulger et al. 1993) was applied to derive five bio-salinity zones in four salinity seasons for 32 Gulf of Mexico estuaries (Christensen et al. 1997). This dataset contains tracking durations for several species of sea turtles tagged with satellite tags between 2008 and 2019. It contains information on species, turtle size, capture methods, tag type, how many days each tag transmitted, whether or not the tag was still attached upon recapture, fouling 'status' of the tag, and foraging region. This dataset thus allows estimation of tracking durations for four species of marine turtles tagged in different study sites in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.

It contains information on species, capture date, days during tracking spent in marine protected areas, shipping lanes, near the coast, near oil rigs, and within known fishing operations.
