The Caribbean region is part of World Energy Assessment region 6 (Central and South America). A fundamental task in the assessment is to map the locations and type of production for existing oil and gas fields. The Petroconsultants database is the only available database that has coverage for the Caribbean region. Oil and gas field symbols represent field center-points and are published with permission from Petroconsultants International Data Corporation, 2002 database.

This composite shaded relief image dataset depicts generalized bathymetry and topography of the Caribbean region.
The first of six strategies in Canada’s Policy for the Conservation of Wild Pacific Salmon concerns the identification of units of diversity (called Conservation Units) and determining their conservation status. The primary purpose of this document is to describe the method that was developed to identify the Conservation Units for the five species of Pacific salmon in British Columbia. The description of units in most of the Yukon and Northwest Territories will proceed using this method once the ecotypology of those areas is completed. The approach of Waples et al. (2005, Journal of Fish Biology, volume 59, pages 1-41) was modified to characterize diversity in Pacific salmon along three major axes: ecology, life...

This dataset includes a modified subset of polygon features that describe U.S. Geological Survey's defined geologic provinces of the World. Each province has a set of geologic characteristics that distinguish it from surrounding provinces. These characteristics may include dominant lithologies, the age of the strata, and/or structural type. Each province is assigned a unique numeric code and may fall within two or more countries or assessment regions.

Sediment hosted gold deposits in Nevada were first mined in the 1960s from open pit mines with large tonnage and low grade resources. Since that time, continuing exploration and discovery have identified extraordinary resources, and together these deposits now form the second-largest gold endowment on Earth, surpassed only by the Witwatersrand Gold Fields of South Africa. The data herein are part of a larger U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) project to develop an updated geospatial database of mines, mineral deposits and mineral regions in the United States. The point and polygon layers within this database represent locations of mines, mineral occurrences (which includes deposits and prospects), and mining...

This data release provides electron microprobe geochemical data that was collected as part of a scoping study to evaluate whether unconventional critical element resources may be associated with sediment-hosted copper systems in the Midcontinent Rift. We report abundances of trace elements in native copper and sulfide minerals in 12 thin sections from samples of the Mesoproterozoic lower Nonesuch Formation that were collected from underground exposures in the White Pine deposit. Approximately 350 spots were analyzed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Fe, Ni, Co, As, Sb, Ag, Hg, and S. The electron microprobe data were collected by personnel of the Central Region Minerals Program in Denver, Colorado, for the U.S. Geological Survey...

At the request of the North American Salmon Stronghold Partnership, the Wild Salmon Center has been working with scientists across the Northwest to identify a network of watersheds important to the long term survival of salmon and steelhead. The network has been selected based on biological criteria; from this network, the Stronghold Partnership will identify sites where opportunities exist to forge creative and cross-jurisdictional approaches to salmon conservation. In order for the North American Salmon Stronghold Partnership to choose salmon strongholds, the Wild Salmon Center held workshops to rate species specific populations across the Pacific Northwest. We organized two expert workshops in Portland, Oregon...

The dataset comprises analyses of core and surface samples collected in and around the Red Mountain porphyry Cu-Mo deposit, Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The dataset includes: analyses for 13 minerals in 245 core samples (Appendix 1); analyses for 44 elements in 818 core samples (Appendix 2); analyses for 54 elements in 122 rock samples (Appendix 3); analyses for 55 elements in 119 soil samples (Appendix 4); and analyses for percent ash and 66 elements in 57 mesquite ash (Appendix 5), 68 oak ash (Appendix 6), and 68 juniper ash (Appendix 7) samples, respectively. The samples were collected and analyzed between 1980 and 2000.
